63 bed troubles

ok so as im deployed my wife buys me my dream truck. brings it home and realizes that under the bed cover there is no bed lol....so now i have to build a bed for it when i get home in a few weeks does anyone have any good ideas on building a cheap nice looking bed?

Welcme to the site Jsctt88, comgrats to you and the misses, I guess the first question to ask are you going to move the tank to the rear, if not then you`ll need to find a donor truck for the bed rails ( to suppor the wood ) or but repoductions which you can get here,,,,

How are you going to use the bed? The back bed panel will need work or replaced also. If your planning on hauling alot...Id probably go with steel. If only moderate use, go with wood and stainless or just plain wood. I did my bed about 6mo ago and have a 3/4" rubber mat that I roll down when I plan on using the bed. Protects the wood. Used a dupli-color roll in bed liner, has worked out real good for me. Here some before/after pics

You can get a sheet of 1/2 marine plywood, stain it buy the painted metal bed strips.
