Wix 33737

What kind of fitting do I need to connect to the outlet side of the wix filter?... is there an -6an adapter fitting for this application? .....I want to run a -6 braided line from the filter to the fuel rail.

That part number is not for the pic you posted. The part number ypu posted is for 3/8" tube to 3/8" NPT.


However the pic you posted is 3/8" tube to -6AN adapter, part number 640940, which most guys will want to use.

You could use that original part# with a -6AN to 3/8" compression fitting...but 640940 is probably the easier/cheaper way to go.

I am using the WIX 33737 and want to run rubber fuel injection hose from tank to rail. What do I need to connect the 3/8" rubber hose to the filter/regulator?

...it comes with an efi quick connect fitting on the inlet and return, you'll need a fitting for the outlet, similar to the one pictured above without the AN fitting. or a barb fitting.... you can clamp the high-pressure hose onto that. make sure and use the high-pressure hose clamps tho....

Thanks for the reply. Got a part # for the "without the AN fitting. or a barb fitting" I am very new to fuel injection. Is there such a thing as a efi fitting to efi fitting? I have rubber hose and clamps rated to sustain 50psi- should be good there. My plan is to connect 3/8" rubber hose with a FI clamp on the inlet tube, and 5/16" on the return side. Am I on the wrong path here?

Just a quick question on this filter/reg, why is the 5/16 inline with the 3/8 output side, is the smaller of the two considered the feed line going from 5/16 to 3/8 and the actual 3/8 goes back to the tank?

You need more than basic rubber line. LS motors run on Bar 2 fuel pressure which is 58-62 psi and that is after the regulator. The input side to the regulator could see 100 psi very easily.

The 3/8" connections are for the input from the pump and the output to the fuel rail. The 5/15" is the return to the tank.

I was hoping that but i was wondering why is the input from the tank not inline with the output to the rail? Does it have something to do with the regulator or is it just designed like that

I am sure it has something to do with the function of the regulator, but you'll have to ask the GM engineering team who designed to confirm.

Ok, stop....you are about 1 weekend worth of work away from starting your truck on fire.

You need Fuel Injection Rated Rubber Line, it is expensive but is rated for high pressures. Regular line will bulge, rip, fray etc, especially around clamps and fittings. This is a great way to have an engine fire.

Please do NOT just clamp the line onto the inlet and outlets on the rails. You need to use fittings.

I have an extra set I can sell you cheap if you need them, otherwise parts store sell them., They are hose barb to Quick connect in 5/16 and 3/8.

You run a FI rated rubber line in 3/8 from the tank to the inlet side using the 3/8 fitting. You run a 5/16 rubber line from the return side of the filter, using the 5/16 fitting, and FI line back to the return on the tank.

From the Output side, run hard line to the engine bay, and then a short piece of FI hose to connect to the Quick disconnect on the rail, also using the correct fitting.

you would run braided line the 10-12 ft from the tank to the rail? Why? Hard line is still stronger and a 1/4 of the price.

Running braided instead of FI rubber from hard line to rail I do understand.

Help me Budda! Help me Tom Cruise! BR3W CITY, thanks for helping me keep one of the vital components of the FIRE triangle where it belongs. "hose barb to Quick connect" is exactly the answer I was looking for, I will seek it out.

I do have FI rated rubber hose. It states 3.4bar on the hose(by my calculation 3.4 bar = 49.3128308 pounds per square inch). Am I fine with this or do I need line that will sustain a higher static pressure? i.e. hard line or braided SS

Thanks for the warning and keeping me on the right path. If you have a part # for your recommendation I would greatly appreciate it.

I guess you missed the part where I mentioned that the line between the pump and regulator can see 100+ psi. Regardless 3.4 Bar line isn't good enough. I suggest you carry a decent fire extinguisher with you since you seem hell bent on taking the cheap and easy route.

Most FI rubber lines are rated at about 180 psi, I'm not sure what line you have but it isn't FI line, or somehow you have FI line from 25 year ago.
