Header size is 1 3/4" primary (may be a little on the big side), to 2" at the first 'Y', (2 1/8" was the right size for flow match to the 1 3/4", but good luck finding that), then to 2 1/2". I tried to keep primary length +/- 14", within 10%, and keep the secondary tubes about even in length. Honestly, this build is all about 'packaging'. I need to keep all this above the scrub line, away from steering, cooling, fuel, and electrics. Then plan to get the trans out without pulling the headers. Don't forget the starter, and the clutch slave. All of a sudden, I have no spare room.

Would it be worth the trouble to get a little more weight to the back by shifting the front wheels/wheelwells forward 2-3 inches? Maybe more clearance for the R&P. Would be better than moving the engine back a couple of inches.

Thanks for the info I didn't know if you had access to info I couldn't find, or if you just made an educated guess like I did For me, it was a more educated guess going with 4 tube headers vs tri-Y

Score today. Yes, the truck is a 69, but, I found some 67/8 front sheet metal locally. The seller needed some rear axle parts, so I traded the 3/4T rear from the 69, and 150 bucks for a complete front group. OG white, some light surface rust, no dents. Guess I'll be running the slope nose. Good day.

the big factor here was the frontal area. This doesn't matter much on an auto-x, but it starts comin into play at 80+ on the bigger tracks. The JT has the flat nose '72, and I can notice the wind buffeting on the hood at 60+.

Rob the frontal area is still the same between the 67/68 and the 69/72 front end sheet metal, just that the sloped nose cut through the air much better. I get that same hood buffeting at around 60 MPH in my 67, better reinforcement inside the hood is the only thing to help.

BTW No Limit got a great signage on the truck at the Grand National Show. What year was that 55, 56, or 57?

I've never had a 69-72 personally but I've had 2 67/68's (1987 - current). I have logged several miles in each most recently N2Billets StellaMae/71 stepside. I'm surprised @ the difference w/the 67/68 being quieter when driving down the road. The noise coming from the hood 'tin-canning' while driving on the hwy is easily noticed. There is a difference in that frontal area for sure.

the light green truck is really a 56. had a 57 ribbed hood. Our customer built the truck himself, he is from northern cal. Nice truck, and a really nice guy. We were well represented at this years GNRS, no less than 15 trucks, and 2 cars running our suspension. - I was like a proud papa.

the axle is pretty wide, at 64" hub/hub. this matches the front, so I can use the same wheel/tire combo all around. the pinion is offset 1" to the pass side, to match up to the motor/trans.

That speedway eng. stuff is junk! you west coast boys will never learn. hey I went to Gavel yesterday got a load of everything I'm having a big sway bar sale want to buy any? what are you doing worring about that pretty boy stuff for who cares what grill your running get the lightest one and put chicken wire in it little spray paint your done! Next you'll be worrying about the color of the steering wheel cover. And remember 2nd is the first loser............................

You know we do things a bit different here on the left coast. I can't just go stumblin through a corn field and fall over some Coleman or Winters parts. Let me know what sway bar trash you found, maybe I can help you dispose of that junk, you got enough useless crap in that shed of yours. I have a steering wheel already, from Speedy Bill, and it's black. I did think about the purple one, but we're more colorfull out here - we don't get that 4 month grey here.
