Gas tank relocation
I recently purchased a 67 small window and am wanting to move the fuel tank under the bed. Poly or steel? Best place to buy? Any help would be appreciated. Want to make truck slick but on a budget.

Re: Gas tank relocation
Definately steel, aluminum or stainless. Poly will sag over time and being exposed to road hazards and whatnot- I would rather have something a bit more durable.
Blazer tank retrofit kits can be found at GMCpauls, Brothers, LMC, TruckShop, Ecklers, etc. These are probably the cheapest route but they do hang down a bit so some folks don't like 'em. An aluminum or stainless tank from POL, Boyd's, Ricks, or Fuelcellguy is a real nice setup but are about twice the cost of a steel blazer tank. Let your budget and aesthetic requirements be your guide. Let us know how it goes with some pics- k?

Re: Gas tank relocation
Congratulations on the truck. Check out Classic Performance Products (CPP) they sell aluminum tanks that mount between the frame rails in the back. I got mine for 500 custom made from Fuel Cell Guy on this forum.. Highly recommended if u can endure the wait

Re: Gas tank relocation
Thanks for the input. I probably will go with a metal tank. It just seemed that the poly ones were calling my name while researching. I will get some pics up soon, as I would like to document my build. Just may take a little longer than most. I tell my wife that it is a five year build.

Re: Gas tank relocation
I am not exactly sure what year it was. Just looking at the kits that came with sending unit and straps. Took the advice from fellow ( I am sure wiser) members and ordered one from Fuel Cell Guy. Can't wait to install.

Re: Gas tank relocation
Mayor,
I was wondering how your tank turned out? I am at the spot you were late last year. Thanks

Re: Gas tank relocation
Well I am still at the same spot you are. I ordered my tank from fuel cell guy and still have not received it. I guess that is what "work in progress 67" meant by "endure the wait". It is supposed to be on its way and i am hoping to get it this coming week. If interested I will keep you posted. My opinion is still up in the air, on whether it is worth the wait but I hope to know more once I receive it.

Re: Gas tank relocation
I was looking at the latest issue of Street Trucks magazine and there is a feature truck that has the tank relocated to the rear, and I noticed the filler is a marine-style cap that is fitted to the upper bed side. By that, mean the top of the bed. Yeah, it's wider than the top of bed, but they created a half-round styling point and that contains the filler neck and cap. The truck is a shop truck and is used daily.
