box removal on my 81 shorty.
I'm thinking of taking the box off my shorty this week end just so I feel like I'm working on my truck. I HATE snow !
What do I need to watch for that may cause a snag while removing it? Is there anything extra I should do while storing it? Can I just set it up on end with the cab side down? I have no tailgate for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. RIZ |

I'd like to hear from a few others if it's ok to be stored with the cab side down. Would it be ok? Should I not? It doesn't have a tail gate.

Re: box removal on my 81 shorty.
I stored mine this way for about 6 months while I worked on the rest of the truck.
As long as its level, not being moved, and not being twisted, it should be fine. If there is a chance that the box sides will be twisting at all, screw or bolt a 2x4 across the top of where the tailgate top would be to keep everything square.

Either stand it like you are saying or flip it upside down and lay it flat on the bed rails.
I have done both. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: box removal on my 81 shorty.
if its possible stick a couple of 2X4s under it so that the metal is not on the ground so that it wont cause a place for moisture to gather
