Dynamat and Carpet kit ?

Time to put new carpet kit in my 78, debating on whether or not to add dynamat to the new install.

My question is, has anyone done it and do you feel it was worth the added expense. If so which kit did you order.

And looking at carpet kits are they all pretty much the same, any recommendations for a quality kit.

Re: Dynamat and Carpet kit ?

I went with Dynamat in mine, it was not that much work and Im very happy with how it turned out. Installed everything in one day. I did one thing worng, I did not tape the joints and ended up geting some of the black stuff stuck under my carpet. So I had to take the carpet and seat out one extra time to get it sorted, was afraid that it would eventualy make itīs way trough the carpet.

Re: Dynamat and Carpet kit ?

I just got done doing both.. I went w/ "roadkill" I put in on everything, and taped the hell out of all joints (I heard about the leakage talked about above)

and ordered a carpet kit from Tuckers. I think there is a big difference from before. a lot less rattle, and less road noise.

a few tips:

WEAR GLOVES my hands look like they went through a shredder, someone on here gave me the same tip... I should have listened!

get a good aluminum tape.

if your carpet has a pad glues on the back it was much easier to cut it off, glue it down to the floor of my truck where it went then gluse the carpet down over it. it was not working trying to glue them both down together.

my carpet only had pad around the trans area. I added more pad to cover the whole floor.

maybe 6 hours total, with the help of my 2 year old... (pass dad the tape!)

let us know what you deside and how it goes.

also lay the carpet out in the sun for a few hours...

Re: Dynamat and Carpet kit ?

Get it from Manards and glue it in with 3M Super 90. WAY cheaper price.

I'm getting lazier i rather just spray it on then spend the time sticking it down and using a roller.

Re: Dynamat and Carpet kit ?

The carpet kit I'm planning on ordering is from www.StockInteriors.com No# 9864 with the mass backing.

I'm thinking with the dynamat and the mass backing under the carpet should make for a quiet and comfortable cab.

Don't forget to keep us updated on how things work out. I'm interested in price (shipping, etc.) quality and fit of carpet. Plus how hard it was to do the whole process

I used this and had excellent results. I used no sound deadener, and the carpet alone cut my road noise in half. The underside is nice and thick too. I had a little trouble installing it in the pedal area, but I think that's due to user error. The carpet itself fits well and is just like the stuff in modern vehicles.
