Transfer case question.

So my K10 has a 208C2 Transfer Case in it with a 700R tranny and 3.08 rear end. I've been working on it all summer and have been driving it for the last week. However, when I put it in 4wd it pops out as soon as I move forward. Does this mean the transfer case is dead? If so, should I rebuild it? Buy a new/used one? Or is the 208 the best one to put back in? As always thanks for your input guys

does it pop out in 4wd low or high range? are your hubs locked? When it pops out does the shifter move or just make a noise? Are you sure its going in fully in the first place?

I'd say a 205 would be the best to put in, but they wouldn't be a direct bolt in. You'd probably have to get special adapters for the 700r4 to go to a 205. The 205 is a gear to gear Tcase, no chains like the 208 and 203. THe 205 is probably 3 times heavier than a 208 and the 203 is even heavier than the 205, but not stronger in my opinion. 203 is a full time tcase.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure if the hubs are engaging. It does have the automitic locking hubs on it which I guess can be trouble. Will they cause the transfer case to pop out if they aren't fully engaged? Oh, the shifter does actually move, although it really doesn't seem very tigh when engaged. I mean it doesn't really click into gear. I haven't checked in low only in high.
