I thought I would post up some pics of our new two piece bolt-in c-notch. I have been trying to find the time to finalize this thing for quite a while now… finally buttoned it up a couple weeks ago! This notch will be part of a complete mild drop system we will be releasing shortly, or we will be selling it separately for $249. This isn’t just an ordinary bolt-in c-notch… I put lots of thought into its design to ensure strength, and ease of installation. The fit on these notches is the best you can find in a production notch. We use factory frame-rail sections as a fixture to build them. Its two-piece design make installation a breeze. It locates using the two factory shock cross-member rivet holes on the top of the frame-rails, and then several holes are drilled. The first notch section can be used as a template and a support to cut the notch out of the frame-rails…. no more cutting, test fitting, cutting, test fitting, cutting… you get the picture! Once the frame section is removed, the lower notch will bolt in to the side and bottom of the rails. The lower section uses factory rivet locations on the bottom side of the frame, and also incorporates an air bag/spring plate (making it easier to drill the frame for mounting the air spring). The factory spring stiffeners remain in the chassis, keeping this baby as strong as possible. I will post more pics of the notch once I complete the mild drop kit I was referring to. Please share the shock x member.... I was staring at mine today about to chop it out. I held back bc I did not find a better option without fabing one up. Lol

There is a better option! Just not many people know about it yet!

I am getting ready to release a new mild drop kit that will incorporate a pretty slick shock mounting system. It keeps the shock angle where it needs to be (close to vertical) in order for the shocks to function properly. The shock relocator portion of the kit is designed to work with my tubular trailing arms... but I am planning on building a version that will also work with the factory arms as well. I plan on letting the cat out of the bag shortly... and will be leaking some more pics over the next few days.

Awesome setup. I really like the ability to draw your cut lines accurately. Having the bag fitting cut outs also rocks. Drilling 1/4" steel along with the frame for a mount sucks.

It's definitely a lot of work drilling those holes! This set-up will allow you to use the lower notch plate as a template to drill the holes. You will still have to drill through the reinforcement plate/frame-rail/and shock x-member plate.

The bed has to be removed in order to access the top holes. I have a handful customers who have installed them in subs and blazers... and to be honest, I do not know exactly what appreach they took.

There are a few ways that it could be done are:

1. Remove or raise the body in order to access the top side of the frame/notch with ease.

2. Make access holes in the floor in order to drill/install the bolts on the top side of the notch.

3. 90* drill and lots of careful measuring to drill the holes from the bottom side of the upper frame rail.

ALL of these options would be a fair amount of work on a suburban or blazer, but in my opinion, the best would be option 1.

I don't have any on hand, as I have not yet installed one myself on a blazer. I have a couple guys on the east coast who are driving their blazers with the stage 2 kits. I will see if I can get some pics.

We have one in the shop that will be getting a stage 2 rear kit with a Dropmember Mild front set-up... but it's gonna be a little while until the blazer is all back together.

How much does it weaken the frame rail structure by taking out the stock shock cross member like you did here, should a new cross member be put back in after you install this kit or can it be left out without any loss?

We make the notch to where it can be used with the factory shock crossmember, or used with our shock relocation system as shown in the pic below:
