Magnetic bed liner

I’ve been thinking of using magnets to hold down a Bedrug bed liner to the floor and walls of the bed. Anyone tried this? Big magnets on top of the rug? Little magnets glued to the bottom of the rug? Something else? I’m trying to avoid screws or adhesives on the truck bed. It’s not going to carry any cargo other than lawn chairs and other light duty type stuff.

That would be a great idea! Try these from Harbor Freight:

Re: Magnetic bed liner

I've never tried it with bed liner material but I work with ultra high pull magnets.
I'm sure that either Samaruim-Cobalt or Neodymium-Iron-Boron magnets will do the job. The only problem is they're not cheap.

Re: Magnetic bed liner

If you have access to old computer hard drives you can take them apart and use the magnets from there. They are super strong for their size and will work well.

Try this page http://www.magnet4less.com/index.php?cPath=122
We use these things all over the place. Any of the 1/4" thick ones maybe? I would sew a flat n52 magnet into a cloth "bag" and sew the bag to the bottom of the bedrug. Then you have a scratch resistant surface, besides I dont think glue would really last.

Re: Magnetic bed liner

Get a bed rug made to go up under the bed rails. Then you can hide the magnets or other hold downs under there.

Re: Magnetic bed liner

I might just stick the adhesive side of velcro strips to the magnets and the hook side to the Bedrug, thus avoiding the need to glue the magnets to the bedrug.
