Cant find lift for a 72 help!

I can't find a lift for a 1972 Blazer. Most seem to only list the 73 and up. Any good sites out there for first gen only products? Im really annoyed that I can't find a lift. Currently im looking for a 4" lift, and all the goodies the 73+ guys get.

Superlift has lifts up to 12" Skyjacker has them up to 8", for just a 4" lift also try Rancho, Tuff Country, and a few others. The steering arm and pitman arm are the same as 73+ Check out their sites and pick up a 4X magazine.

Try www.superlift.com or www.skyjacker.com for starters. Enter the year and make, there are lots of kits and options available. Take a look.

ORD sells longer heavy duty shackles www.offroaddesign.com they also sell 1st gen lifts (tuff country). As for bumpers, what are you looking for? winch bumper, step bumper, tube bumpers, brush guards, etc.... Goto www.ck5.com and look at their advertisers then join.

I'd second you looking over Offroad Design's website. The guys there are very helpul and knowledgeable. I'm very happy with my Tuff Country lift.

Thanks for the places. BTW is the shackle kit, and the lift two seperate things or are they making the shackle kit = lift kit? Im looking for just a general heavy duty bumper.

To get the any lift, the springs have to be made slightly longer for the arch, what that causes is during full compression (spring flattening out) is the shackle end of the spring to hit the frame. The ORD shackles are slightly longer (1/2") and will allow the lift spring to compress with out hitting the frame(as fast, takes more compression). You end up with 1/4" of lift from the shackles alone. There are those individuals that install 2" longer shackles, but that's not advised since it screws up the caster and points the front axle pinion towards the ground(can cause binding at the front u-joint of the drive shaft). This can be corrected by rotating the pumpkin/adding shims etc...

As far as HD bumpers goto www.4x4iron.com

Forgot: the ORD shackles are thicker(1/4") and use 1/2" hardware v. 7/16" stock hardware.

Welcome to the board!

And not to confuse you but Offroad Design offers a rear axle shackle flip that replaces our stock rear axle shackle with one that gains 4" of lift. I did the front axle heavy duty shackle mainly for the strenght it adds.

Ok, I guess rather than trying to figure this out myself I want about 4" of lift? What should i go for? I was also hoping to add some shackles for when I need that extra lift along with the flip for it.

Get some 4" front springs (I like my Tuff countrys) w/ ORD's heavy duty front shackles w/ bushings and bolts. In the rear go with the ORD 4" shackle flip as Yukon suggested. Don't forget longer shocks. If and this is a big if, and not meant to confuse you, the rear still sits a little low in the back you can add ORDs zero rate add-a-leaf for an additional 1" of lift in the rear. It does not make the springs stiffer but will give 1" of lift.

I'm taking off my 4" Tuff Country front springs in the next week or so. PM me if you are interested in buying them. I installed them on the truck I think in 2000 and they have less than 3,000 miles on them.

It's all yours...didn't mean to step on YOUR turf and YOUR thread. Just was letting YJ know if you were not interested I may be. You must be new to this board because we don't step on each others toes and we help each other as much as we can. Don't judge me until you know me! Dude.

That's just in bad taste anywhere. Its not like this is the first forum I have ever been on. I don't care if its here or any other board. What was with the dude at the end after the ! that kind of confused me. If you want the item PM him just don't post it on my thread. Im not trying to pick a fight.

You seem to have missed the point. I do not wish to fight with you either. I am not out to get your lift so enjoy the one you get from YJ. He offered it to you first. I just wanted to let him know that if you were not intereted I may be. Some people including myself do not have the automatic notification that a PM has been sent and some of us don't check our PMs everday. It just lets someone know it's out there. My point is....Enjoy your Blazer and this board. The Blazer will provide you with years of fun offroading and the board will provide tons of information. I really liked my Blazer until one day I was cut off in traffic and rest was history. I have a 71 4X4 Suburban now that offers more space to serve my needs. I have built several of these trucks and all have performed better than expected. They are great rigs. Where are you from? Northeast? If you have any questions on your build up I may be able to help you out. Let me know. I'm willing to share the info I have learned since my dad and I started working on these trucks together back in 1972.

Don't mind the dude thing it is something that goes back a long way with me and pi$$es me off! My own personal problem I need to deal with I guess!
