Re: Project "Captain Insano"
Looking good, Nice to meet you!
heres a couple links about the fitament issue we were talking about. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=356697&page=9 scroll down about halfway and you'll see the pic of the wheel http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=471195&page=2 post 39 on page 2 of the second link lowlife says with the LD rotors it is direct bolt on and the machining is only required if you have HD rotors. FYI the HD rotors are 1.25" thick and the LD rotors are 1.00" thick. I dont know which you have but if the others fit properly you probably have the LD rotors. Later

Re: Project "Captain Insano"
thanks. i've still got about 4 more wks worth of work left on the cab, but it's nice to be done with the floor and move on to a different part of it. i've been checking out your build. i'm impressed with all the work your doing outside. seeing the trees in the background makes me miss washington. i was stationed in everett for 4 yrs. i loved the climate. i even liked the overcast. getting a tan there isn't going to happen. maybe that's why my modeling career never took off. lol

Good job on the cab, its nice to get that part of the build behind you. I'm sure the rest of your build will go just as smooth.

thanks for the links. i think i have the HD rotors. they measure 1.280" to be exact. it doesn't appear they have been turned down any, and definetely not turned down .375" like mcbassins'. the end near the cap, the OD measures 2.750". when i took the passenger side off, the wheel came right off. i had to use a pry bar to pop off the driver side. not much pressure though. i didn't think anything of it at the time, until you mentioned it today. i figured just some rust. probably rotors off a later model (80's). i found out i have a 72 cab, 69 vin w/title. i very well could have a 72 truck with a diff. vin plate and title and other random stuff changed. when it's time for me to order the uca/lca's i may have to call porterbuilt and get some actual measurements of the arms to make sure i get the right ones.

Re: Project "Captain Insano"
yeah it's nice when you complete something. i'll look over at the frame, and be like, dang i'm ready to get started on that. then i have to pull myself back together, finish the cab, then you can move on to the next thing. it's easy to get overwhelmed with all the work that needs to be done.

Re: Project "Captain Insano"
i haven't worked on the truck in a while, but i do have parts coming in though. i can't let a page fill up without any photos, so here we go.
where i'm at on the cab, i have one rust spot to repair near the passenger visor area. i started on repairing it, but it's a tough angle to create. i want to use as little body filler as possible on this truck. dan (67c10rustbuket) cut this section off his cab and hooked my up. thanks, dan. my boyd welding alum. fuel tank showed up yesterday (excellent work, i recommend them all day long). the strong arms upper/lower showed up today. i'm now just waiting for my accuair system to show up. i don't have a tracking number yet, so i'm not sure how much longer. i'll be getting after the cab again this weekend. with all my stuff for the frame showing up, makes me want to get started on it. but once i get the engine/trans pulled, i'll need the cab done and out of the way.

Re: Project "Captain Insano"
Looking good!
I envy anyone with the tenacity to do only one thing at a time. I guess I have ADD or something. I do body work for a while, and get bored/ frustrated, and have to go twist some wrenches for a while. |

Re: Project "Captain Insano"
thanks guys. trust me, if i wasn't doing this build in a 2 car garage i wouldn't be sticking with just one job at a time until it's finished. i would have this truck scattered all over a shop jumping from job to job.

Re: Project "Captain Insano"
my compressor threw a piston rod yesterday. i've been noticing it has been taking a long time to build the tank up and even keeping up. i think the piston rings wore out and caused enough vibration on one of the pistons to give. i have a new rod, piston, cylinder, and 2 new rings on there way. they'll be here sometime next week. i'm glad this happened, now i can get new rings on and pump some real air.

Re: Project "Captain Insano"
Hey looks like another great Oklahoma project to follow. Looks like you have the same cab repair going on as the rest of us around here. You have done a great job. I hope to see it around some time. Keep up the hard work. Subscribed.
