1994 6.5 4l80e Trans question

I know were there is a 1994 2wd 4l80e for sale. My question is, does anyone know if these have a stand alone controller. Its out of a wrecked 6.5 diesel 2wd 3/4 ton Suburban. Supposed to have about 109,000 miles on it.

Re: 1994 6.5 4l80e Trans question

Are you looking for a factory stand alone computer?

I believe the 94 6.5's went to computer controlled.
But the 91 square bodies with the 6.2 and the 92-93 diesel trucks had stand alone controllers. My 91 V3500 6.2L diesel crew has a 4l80E/NP205 with the stand alone computer. I wouldn't mind being able to adjust the shifting.

The aftermarket computers are expensive, but I believe they are very tunable.

Re: 1994 6.5 4l80e Trans question

Thanks for the info. Im trying to figure out which way to go here with my 79 2wd ccswb project. Ultimaly I would like a Duramax/Allison combo, 2nd or untill I can afford that I thought of a 6.0 4l80e. But I do have a 88 tbi 454 that I was thinking of using with a 4l80e just to get things rolling and doing the drivetrain upgrades later. I can get this 94 4l80e for $250 but then Ill have atleast $500 into a controller. At this point Im think that I should put the $$ towards the 6.0 4l80e with wiring combo and sell the tbi454.

Re: 1994 6.5 4l80e Trans question

I have no idea why my post on the 73-87 forum was moved to the 99-06 forum. I guess that I should have mentioned in my original post, that this was something I looking at putting into my 1979 CCSWB. Have I offended someone????

I don't think you offended anyone.
I think it was a mistake. I reported it for you.
