Fuel Pump Question

Ok I am about to order my MSD module for my engine just need to figure out how to get fuel to the motor. I drop in a 5.3 in to my 82 k20 the engine is a carb set up with a Edelbrock 600 cfm carb. I was woundering if a TBI fuel pump will work with a fuel pressure regulator to get my pressure down to around 5.5 psi? I do have a Holley external fuel pump new but a buddy needs it for his project and said he would trade me for his new fuel pump and sending unit that he got for his 87 k10. Reason why he is not using it now is that his TBI blew up on him and he is droping in a built carb 383 engine. I was thinking of setting up the Holley Fuel pressure regulator to a return setup so maybe I will not burn up the pump.
