is it difficult to do a ring and pinion swap?
Thinking about doing it.
What would I need to complete this project successfully?

Unless you have an expert shoeing you how with the correct tools I would not do this. This is like rebuilding a transmission and better left to the guys that do this for a living. You have to have exact measurements and clearances. If you mess up then you're in bigger trouble. Best to haev a reputable shop do it then if something happens you can take it back to get it fixed.

You need a dial indicator, a ft. pounds torque wrench, and a boat load of patience. This is money well spent having a pro do the job.
