I think it's interesting, but it makes me wonder how far forward the engine must be mounted to not need the firewall hump for distributor clearance.

Looks like an aluminum panel bolted over the firewall. Clean looking option for someone who doesn't want to go all the way just yet.

Probably due to hood clearance, I may have to use a similiar setup.

That is just another person that doesn't know what they're doing... advertised as a '65 and states it has a '62 cab but them mentions that it has the torsion bars ("torque bars") down for "proper stance'...

I like the firewall cover but....... pass!
I have a feeling this thing is cobbled together from U Pull It parts.

kinda reminds me what folks did to mid-60's thru early 70's drag cars... That's the only place I've seen gauges in the engine compartment (beyond a fuel press gauge) - saw it trickle over to a few street cars, but not many.

Should it be inferred that if you put together a truck from junk yard collecting--that it is a POS truck? It's not my style---but this guy built the truck in one way or another.. "Cobbled together" should only have a negative connotation with regard to vehicles when it's a rat rod with poor welding and bad "engineering". Don't insult the guy's build style so generically. If you don't like it--don't say anything. You kinda make yourself sound like an ass.

Well, when you see things like "de-tensioned torque bars", the "stripe" on the side, combined with the other stuff.. I don't think the phrase "cobbled" is completely out of the question. Alot of the parts seem to be either junkyard pulls, or craiglist finds...and while there isn't anything wrong with this...the execution of the work makes the difference. Plus, being in Cali, aren't there concerns with a mis-matching cab/vin?

If it were a younger guys first project, I'd say "room to grow" and refine things....but as a "for sale, 62 Tribute truck" its just not up to par. I'd be scared to see what the wiring looks like.

Exactly! Even though this thing is registered (as a model year ???) I could imagine the DMV stuff as an absolute nightmare.

Cobbling stuff together from junkyard parts is not bad so long as its done right... how can you be sure its even close to correct if the seller doesn't know what year it is.
