Re: Its spring time

Looking good. Do you have to add any length to the driveshafts for a 4" lift?

Re: Its spring time

The black 71' I have appears to have a 4" or so lift in it and both shafts are there. Let me know if you need any measurements on the shafts. Pics of the blazer are in my 71' rustbucket thread

Yes the frt axel took several hrs (6-8Hrs). I wire brushed it with and air tool, degreased it .wire wheel it again. The pics do hide some in perfections. Rattle can it several coats. Now I am thinking if I want to do the rear the same??? The Rear u-bolts are a ***** Iam thinking of cutting them off. How did you make out with your lift any pics? Thay say 6-8Hrs total time to install?????? There crazy

Re: Its spring time

Yeah they're smokin crack. I worked on it from noon till 11 on Friday night and again from 9 am till 1. Finished it but only exchanged the parts didn't clean anything up. Wife was excited to drive it to a birthday party sat afternoon so I was under a strict deadline! The rear u-bolts were a *****. Long cheater to break them loose then an impact helped.

Re: Its spring time

I have a 4" lift springs and blocks (1 week build thrash is mine) and I clear my 35's with no problems. I like the short squatty look like myself but the ride is horrible on these concrete south louisana roads. I've heard of people trimming some of the lower leaf length down but I don't know about it. Your truck looks great. The extra time you take to do as much work yourself as you can will only make you appreciate the ride that much more!( no matter how rough) LOL

Re: Its spring time

Dave,
I will measure the shaft tomorrow. What do you think would work best for you measurement wise? I will take pictures of where I measure. Man be careful with them rear blocks!!!! Be sure to retorque the bolts several times. I have seen them kick out on a buddies truck years back and really did a number on the truck. I might have an extra set of used headers here if your looking for a cheap fix for now. I have to come up that way soon to pick up my parts from Warbucket so I could bring them up. Let me know.
