What is a tranny cooler and do I have to have one when I install my R4?

a tranny cooler is a mini-radiator used for cooling the tranny fluid. overheating is the number one cause of auto tranny failure especially the overdrives so YES U MUST

the bigger the better! I pull a water trailer that weighs 5500 lbs full with my truck with a 700R4 with the AC blowin' cold without a problem, but it's got a BIG cooler and runs through the radiator, too!

Ok, it's sounding more and more like I need to swap the tranny, motor and radiator at the same time. Thanks Guys!

get a B&M one - they use the stacked plate design that makes them durable. I've got one on my 700r4 & i wish it was bigger(its the smallest one summit has) & you live where its MUCH hotter so go BIG.

I used one designed for a large motor home and it keeps mine running no higher than 150 deg. usualy. A little higher on extremely hot days sitting in traffic.
