I was so excited to get a shorty build going that I didn't take the time to carefuly look things over and the frame ended up being bent and I didn't want to deal with it since I would have had to do a body swap to get it back into shape so I sold it to a member in Illinois. Who knows when I will get another truck to tool around in. I was in Melrose Iowa yesterday and happened upon a sealed bid for a 1976 3/4 ton 4X4 Chevy fire dept. truck that had 9800 original miles. It was rust free but had its fair share of dents and holes drilled in it. It was a 400/400 combo with full time 4X4. I put a bid in for $1650 and found out it went for $2500 ( yesterday happened to be the last day ). Oh well, I still found a great skull rack while shed hunting. There are pics on the hunting thread in the general discussion area.

Re: Is $300 to much?

Well I paid the man and got the title and keys. Here are some pics. It has an Edelbrock carb, aluminum intake and Accel HEI dizzy. He said he quit driving it because of brake issues and the engine was getting a little tired.

Ryan It was right in your neck of the woods. It was over by the library in Mitchellville. I bet you have seen it before.

Nice find. Great truck to part out. You dont feel bad to send her to the crusher cause she is so rusty.

It will give up all of the parts that can be reused before going so its ok with me. If you look in the first picture look at the difference in the bed height to the cab height on the drivers side. I think its pretty well rotten underneith. There is barely anything holding the passenger trailing arm together.

Re: Is $300 to much?

I have never totaly parted out something so this is new to me. I hope to continue to do this in the future on a small scale. Maybe one or two trucks a year. My problem is I have a hard time parting with things so it should be interesting. I have decided though that when it gets to my house and disassembled is when I will start a thread in the parts section.

Re: Is $300 to much?

SOB! That guy said he wanted to wait till spring to get rid of that thing so his yard didn't get messed up getting it out. I was thinking when you said $300 that was the truck. Did you have to take it with all the crap in the back?

Yes everything goes. I have a 40 yard dumpster so it should be ok. I must have caught him on the right day.
