Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
Yes Lake Anna, have done a complete rewire with the American Auto Wire kit. Every wire has been replaced and I am very glad I did. Some of the wires especially underneath were in bad shape. A previous owner had cut and spliced all over the place.
Tire size is 285 75 16. That was the largest that a local Tire Shop suggested putting on the steel wheels I have. I lifted the truck about 2 to 3 inches with a Tuff Country lift kit. New leaf springs up front and about 2 1/2" lift blocks in the back. Wanted the truck to sit level and not have the back too high. Really like the way it turned out. Still have not figured out the fuel fill completely Ryan. Right now it ends underneath the passenger side rear wheel well. I have a fill tube with cap and vent line and am planning on mounting it under that wheel well. The truck sits high enough that I should be able to reach under the wheel well and fill it. We will find out

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
Loaded the K20 on the car trailer at 7am and took it to Jerry's Auto in Rising Sun, MD. Picked it up this afternoon and was very pleased with the installation of the stainless exhaust pipes and flowmaster 50 delta flow mufflers. It has a cool sound. Below are some before and after pictures.
As you can see from the pics, I still need to get the lower trim on. Also will be installing the cowl below the windshield this weekend along with the new antenna and windshield wipers. Still need to get the seat recovered and the amps installed under the seat. Gettin closer

More exhaust pics. Can't say enough about how pleased I am with Jerry's Auto. Price was very reasonable, especially for stainless, and the custom bends are very neat. Will definitely refer people to them in the future.

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
Thanks. Few more exhaust pictures.
Still have to figure out mounting the fuel fill inside the passenger side rear wheel well. I definitely do not want to mount the fuel fill inside the bed since I will be hauling mulch and brush at times. Would hate to need to fill up and have a load of stuff in the bed. Does anyone have a fuel fill located underneath a wheel well? Would love to see pictures.

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
Looking real good. I have flowmaster 40 series on mine with a 454 and it sets car alrams off in parking lots. After seeing those tires on your truck gets me thinking about getting the same for mine but in 35's.

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
The mufflers are not stainless Ryan. Not sure if they still make a Delta Flow Flowmaster 50 in stainless or at least Jerry's supplier did not have them in stock. Jerry said they have had some minor problems with stainless mufflers at times. I think it was with internal baffles starting to rattle or welds coming loose inside, something like that. He recommended going with just the regular 50 series muffler and stainless pipe. Will see how they hold up.
The tail pipes polished up sweet with metal polish. Will try to remember to take some pictures of them this weekend.

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
Fixed some little stuff on the truck today.
- Rewired rear lights with new connector. - Started to wire for trailer hitch in rear. - Added some spacers to bed so it would line up better with the cab - installed cowl panel under windshield, new antenna, - bled power steering to get rid of whine - worked out some dents in the tailgate trim and then polished the trim - got the cargo light working - ran 8 gauge power wire for stereo amps to battery (hid it inside passenger side fender) Then drove the truck around in the light rain. It was fun. Got it up to 20 mph on the driveway.

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
A little more progress today. Some lower trim on driver's side. Also thinking about using some circa 1990s Chevy hubcaps that I modified to fit.
Used a dremel tool to cut the centers out of two hubcaps so they would slide over the locking hubs. They actually look better than I thought they would. I will use them for now until I locate some 1972 4wd hub caps in decent shape.

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
JMO but you need to find 69-75 caps and get the bowties painted blue. It's amazing how that third color of blue will really pop against the orange and white.

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
My rear parking brake cables are too short now that it has been lifted a little. Any suggestions on where I could get some made with stainless components? I am checking with the company where I bought the stainless brake and fuel line, Inline Tube. Was wondering if there were any other places that could make them.

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
Your truck is really looking good! Your exhaust turned out awesome! I like the hub caps too. After putting mine on and trying to take them off, your hub caps look like a dream! Loosen the 8 plastic caps and they're off. The old style seem to be a bear to get off. Maybe it's just my Ford wheels. I was going to say Inline tube as well for the ebrake cables. Keep up the great work!

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
Just measure your current cables and add some, then order the same diameter cable in stainless from mcmaster carr. Your local good hardware store may even have it.

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
Milestone weekend. Finally drove it out on the road after 2 years of restoration. Picked up tags for the truck last week and put them on yesterday. Installed the amps and cranked up the stereo going down the road. Truck drove nice.
Installed a rear license plate holder/gas fill door from an 86 regal on my front bumper. Drove it to Bill Price's today. He is going to do some tweaking to it this week. Can't wait to see it when he's done. Looking forward to the Ocean City, MD car cruise next month. Any of you driving your trucks to the car cruise 5/17 - 5/19?

Re: 72 K20 Cab Body & Paint Complete!
Very happy with the radio Low Elco. This is the 2nd old AM Chevy radio that I had redone with RCA outputs and MP3 player input. The FM reception is pretty good. Will probably be plugging my HTC droid phone into the MP3 input and listening to the Pandora website most of the time. That's what I did this weekend and it sounded great.
Called McMaster Carr and talked to them about the custom brake cables. The guy on the phone was not too experienced with brake cables. He just wanted to sell me the braided stainless that went inside the rubber. I ended up ordering two cables from Inline Tube. Very pricey but did not have much time and wanted to get them asap. Temporary tags expire in a couple weeks and they said they would ship them to me this week.
