my truck has been sitting for a couple months in the summer time and there was a puddle of oil under it...

when i drove it.. it felt like it was dropping out of gear while driving.

also i had to rev it a couple times before it would catch reverse...

this is my winter vehicle and they're predicting snow tonite!!!!

any ideas???

Is it an Auto? If so, check the fliud, it may just be low....

yeah... it's an automatic, forgot to mention that.

i'm worried about it leaking though... is there an additive for first aid?

what should i be looking at to stop the leaks

There is an additive that's supposed to soften the seals up. I have never used it, so I can't say if it works or not. Tranny fluid is pretty thin. If it has been sitting a while, it might seal up a little on it's own with some driving...

naw, mine did the EXACT same thing. Just make sure it's got fluid, the fluid is HOT, and that the vacuum line that goes from the Modulator to the intake is in tact and connected.

Tim, the modulator line doesnt control wether or not, or how well the clutches are engaged, it uses vac pressure to work against governor pressure to tell the trans when to shift. this has nothing to do with engaging the gear, just tells it when to change gears. i'd put my money on either worn out clutches or a southbound pump.
