'49 chevy with s-10

I used an '89 s-10 standard cab long bed for mine. What are your plans for suspension? I went with a 4-link in the rear which allowed me to center the wheels in the fenders.

I just bought a 48, I can't decide which way to go on the suspension. Like most of us out here, I don't have a drum full of money, so can't decide if I should clip the front, invest on a mustang II crossmember. What all do you have to do to a S10 chasis to sit the truck? What year can I use?

My factory frame was in bad shape so i went with an '89 model s-10 standard cab longbed. (bought the whole truck complete and running with a 4.3v6 and a 700r4 for $150.00) I believe you can use most any year s-10 just some slight differences from year to year.Most people try to get the standard cab longbed 2wd models(but you can use the other models also just have to modify the frame to fit the wheelbase). I have some friends that have done the front clip and can tell you that the cost is about the same either way you go. It all depends on what kind of deals you can find and how resouceful you are. How low are you wanting the truck to sit at? In my area there are more s-10's for cheap than there were factory '47-54 frames so the choice was easy. Also i wanted my truck to sit low and s-10 suspension parts can be purchased at any local autoparts store cheap!! Good luck either way you go and keep me posted.

I will try to get some pics... its a 2010 roadglide flat black with a few parts on it. (nutn special but i do have air ride on it and the neck kit to put a 26" on!!!! just need the time and money to work on it

Awesome lookin' build so far man,great job! Definitely will be subscribing and watching for updates. I looking to start a similar project myself.

What did you have in mind for front and rear bumper brackets? Are the stock ones pretty close to fitting the s10 chassis? I've seen a few of these chassis swap trucks that are not running either bumpers,didn't know if it was for a reason. Keep up with the good work!

Thanx for the nice words. As for bumpers, im running both front and back (i really like the look of the blade bumpers when laid out). On the front the factory brackets are close to ftting the s-10 frame (i just made a mount) and on the rear the factory bumper brackets are a little wide so there again i just made some brackets. I can post some pics if that will help you.

I agree,these trucks look sick with the bumpers layed out,as well as the running boards! Can't wait to get my project started especially seeing yours,I'm in search mode now lookin' for a decent truck for decent money. All the trucks around here are either over priced rust buckets or over priced bondo buckets,solid trucks are few and far between.

I think my favorite quote from an old guy that had a '51 for sale,"yeah this truck is real solid especially the cab,just solid." So I ask,"how are the floors?" He replies,"oh it needs both sides they're almost all the way gone." WHAT???!!!
