Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
i came up with 7.250" which sounded short to me but i dbl checked and thats the measurment i got. i tried a cpl stock pushrods i had laying around and 7.4" is too long, the wipe was clearing edge to edge.

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
I wasn't thinking about the new rockers
![]() that could be it...with the rocker change needing something different. I didn't notice but what lifters are you running? I think the LS7 style lifters lash is more like .080-.090 vs .050-.060 for GenIII/early GenIV?

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
so did some research, some fitting and testing and checking... now my head hurts, but i got it all figured out. its simply the fitment of the rockers. heads are coming off and getting dissasmbled so i can clean them up and going to do a quick polish job while ive got them apart. ive got to wait for some new assembly rags to come in so itll be a cpl weeks before i get down to it. in the mean time im going to clean the block back up, as its gotten quite dirty since i primed it, and finish the paint job. im not sure i like the stock valve covers and am seriously contemplating buying some nice fab'd ones. opinions?

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
Just did the full read through.. looking awesome! so what kinda hp numbers are you looking at with the hair dryer installed? are you gonna go for a 1 piece drive shaft?
aired out that truck is gonna have a wicked slant with that Frnt Dropmember... actually I shouldn't assume everyone uses bags when using Dropmembers, what are your suspension ideas?

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
Thanks man. Its gonna be a static drop, 4 corner coilovers, have to figure the ride height still. With the twins installed im shootin for 800hp. One piece driveshaft for sure, trailing arms, anti-roll and panhard bar. Ill be redoing the cnotch soon here, just need to get the truck into my new garage and i can start working again. Hopefully another month and ill move her in.

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
I was originally going to go with a full coil-over set-up also.. what is wrong with the CPP notch you already have in? it looked done well, thinking of a bigger one?
well if you stick with the CPP, I've got a free part for you if you want it.. it's a Competition Engineering rear coil-over kit. it's only like a $150 kit (or something) I welded it all up, built it to work with a CPP cnotch, basically it bolts flush into the rear two bolt holes of the notch, the bar sits on top of the frame rails, but still clears the bed. this is the widest setup you can go without mounting coilovers outside the frame rails and sacraficing tire width. I will never be using it as I won't be going coil-over, so you can have it if you want.

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
sweet thanks for the offer dude. i took a look through your build there and saw it, nice work so far! where abouts in alberta are ya?
im going to redo the notch so i can weld everything in for more strength. the cpp notch is a nice piece but its just not for what i want to do with the truck. the rear set-up im going for is similar to how djracers 67 is set up, same idea with a different touch. |

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
I am about 30 mins from edmonton. I've looked at DJ's set-up a few years back on the form, it works really well for him. are you going for street legal? that truck of yours will end up being crazy fast! congrats on the engagement, our big day is in Feb.2013.

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
truck will be street legal but built for 1/4 mile racing. im sure hoping shes fast with the time and money that will end up in her!! lol.
small update, heads are clearenced for the rockers, everything is back installed, painted and clear coated, balancer installed and then all plastic wrapped for storage till i can finish it off. the house vacuum died the other day so the fiance and i went shopping for a new one. holy sheet batman, i could buy another project car for cheaper then these damn dirt suckers now adays!! well we both agreed to make this vacuum the last one we'd buy for a long while and we went all out on it. so im broke for a while again now haha. good news is little bro's camaro is almost back together and will be leaving the garage very soon. so id say end of may my truck will be sitting in her new home till she drives out! pics to follow. |

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
yeah my neighbors daughter loves it too haha. the colors will all make sense in good time. the truck has a theme, what that theme is will be revealed closer to completion.
