gas tank question

I am thinking of taking the plunge with a 5.3 been reading everyone's builds, but was wondering on my gas tank. I have one of the under bed aluminum tanks from Brothers. I am not sure if it is baffled. Do I have to have a baffled tank? Can I just get the Walbro fuel pump and Corvette filter? I had a 3rd bung added on my tank for the evap system on my current 305. I assume I will leave that hooked up, but not sure.

I think you can go with the tank you have if the fuel pump fits in it.

Bob went with older unbaffled tanks on his Glock build and he said not to drain the tanks below about 1/4 so there was always enough gas for the pumps.

I thought the Walbro was an external fuel pump. I did not realize I would need one inside the tank. I thought it would go inline from the lower port on the tank to the filter then no the the fuel rail. I will have to call around to see if I can find a in tank fuel pump for it.

The walbro would work fine, external pump is fine but internal pumps are quieter and last longer since they are cooled by the fuel.

you could always weld a sump in the botom of the aluminum tank....

Unbaffled tend to run dry, whether internal or external. Check out Tanks, Inc. for their drop in internal pump setup with a sump that allows you to run an internal pump with no baffling...
