So I took the plunge today, ordered the swap from a salvage yard for my 84. The guy says it is from an 07 Chevy truck 5.3 with the PCM, harness, pedal assembly, pedal computer, all accessories, fuel lines and 4l60 transmission. All with 58kmi on it for 2k picked up with a 90 day warranty.

The bad is the place is like 50miles from my house, so I really need to inventory everything when I pick it up.

Anything I should look out for when I go pick it up? Does the price sound right?

get everything you can. Breather assembly, holder for the computer, radiator if its good, shroud or anything you can.

He said the pedal computer (I assume tac module) would be included, I will have to make sure it is there. I'll make my list before I head over. They seem to sell quite a few according to him.
Just got my truck back on the street and hat the 305 in it and dealing with the bent frame. Time to blow it back apart and do it right.

Never done a motor swap, but you only learn by trying; so I will be asking lots of questions.

Thanks! I have been reading all I can in the build threads for the past few weeks. My only problem is if I want to keep it smog compliant I could run into issues. Found out the engine is a L59 out of a 2006 Chevy Tahoe Z71 5.3L. The Flex Fuel option worries me a bit.

Right on bro! Im a somewhat close neighbor doing a similar swap... I actually think you were the one I talked to at the CPP cruise

Flex fuel is no biggie- actually I think you get bigger injectors- bonus! DoD or vvt would worry me more

Get the driveshaft too if there is any question whether your old one will fit (number of splines) on the new trans.

Be sure to get the gas pedal and also the harness between it and the TAC.

Yep, that was me. That was a crazy day to be out at a show! Would like to check out your build in person some time if you have time. This will be my first engine swap, but with all the help I see people get on the board it should be a bit easier.

Do all L59 engines come with FlexFuel or is that an option?

I have a TH350 on mine now. I was under the impression the drive shaft should fit the 4L60 and my rear.

Yep, it was actually on the list the guy gave me of things, I forgot it until then.

Hell yea man, you can come by whenever... i work during the day on weekdays, but im home by 5 and I have every other friday off..

Im in the process of figuring out how to get the truck away from my garage wall(air compressors not currently working) but once it is, its teardown time

The yoke from your 350 turbo will work in the 4l60e. The driveshaft length may be too long and need to be shortened depending on where you put the engine

Also, L59 is the desigination given to the flex fuel engine, its an option for the truck, not the engine its self..Posted via Mobile Device
