Re: Triple Down

Went to do some cleanup around the heater and replace the gaskets. Found a bit or rust. Cut it out, made and welded in a patch, finished, painted, and seam sealed everything including inside the cowl before putting it all back together.

Re: Triple Down

The patch was a good fit. Wes recomended removing the inner fender and there was some rust on the that as well, so I cleaned it up and painted it before reinstalling. Finished product looks pretty good it I do say so myself.

Took a little extra time to clean and paint the whole firewall, inner cowl, M/C and booster to make the place a bit nicer.

While she was apart put in all new Moog steering arms and adjusters with poly boots and a new (used) 1-1/16" front sway bar from LivRat with new Energy Suspension Bushings.

They are all SMD type LED bulbs. Was turned onto them by LivRat. One thing I always hated about LEDs in old rigs was the multi-point on little dots look. While LEDs are bright, they have a very shallow viewing angle and they don't light up the bucket so there is no cool glow in the lens. These SMD bulbs are built with LEDs on the tip but also all the way around to fill up the whole taillight area.

The crazy looking back up lights are 7 watt, with a billet aluminum housing/ heat sink, and a wide view fish eye lens. They took a long time to get and time to fit but now they are a big improvement.

Re: Triple Down

All the right steering parts. And parts picked up at the swap this weekend.

The cable and cord straps are made right in Oregon and are perfect for holding tie down straps.

Re: Triple Down

I love love love those salt flat AR wheels thay are absolutely gourgeous on anything they touch. and man I have never seen such a large selection of new parts right off the bat not really focused but the small stuff rules all. neat addition with the taillights not sure about the white/blueish tint reminds me of those little nip cars round here. super clean truck I'll be following to see the progress

What can I say? I have a plan but I am trying to get as much stuff done as quickly as I can (which turns out to be a bunch of small stuff) in between downpours and classes. Have some more of the little items comming and then a few bigger ticks off the list that won't be much to show.

Trying to get the truck into a finished "Stage One" condition before July and start on the much slower, "Stage Two" at the end of the year.

I had to do the same with the new cargo SMD bulb as well. De-solder the base, cut the leads, add a 1/2" tube spacer, solder on wire extensions, epoxy the base, solder everything back together again.

Seems like a lot of time to spend on a $20 bulb, but now it fits and works and it at least 4x brighter than before. Put an led in the dome, for better light, less draw, and less heat in the lens, am putting leds under the dash as well for entry but I am leaving the gauges with the old 168s, I like to be able to dim them way down so I don't have all that glare on the backroads.
