Feeler for Engine Swap Crossmembers

I'm trying to find a shop to rent around here so that I can 1) work on my stuff and 2) hopefully get a business started. One of the things I'll be doing to my blazer is swapping in an LS engine and 6L80. I was just curious how many people would be interested in buying a crossmember for their truck instead of having to deal with making one themselves?

And for the record, I wouldn't dream of trying to sell them without a paying membership. I should be getting one of those soon, regardless.

Engine cross member I would be interested in. And if you made a bolt in trans cross member for a 4x4 that would be cool too.

Yeah, if I did an engine one, I'd probably do a trans. as well. I don't think the engine would really need a skidplate since the axle protects it, but barring some unforeseen obstacle, the trans. x-member would have some threaded holes and an optional skidplate.

Let me know when you are up and running. I was going to buy a crossmember from Pacific Fabrication but I will wait until you have yours in production.

I appreciate it, but don't wait on me. Right now I don't even have a place to work and I still have to buy a welder and a couple other things. At best, I'd say this is a few months down the road.

I can wait a little while. I am just trying to get the body up to par before I worry about drive train.

Re: Feeler for Engine Swap Crossmembers

I was actually thinking of making my own crossmember. I was working with a local waterjet guy who cut some custom D60 front brake brackets for me...

I have an LQ9/4L80e/NP205 for my Blazer. I need a crossmemeber and one of my friends has an LS motor sitting in the corner for his 71 K10, so he'll need one too... I like the idea of being able to reproduce it on the waterjet. I also want to be able to remove the center to be able to drop the oil pan without lifting the motor...

That sound like it will be a nice piece being cut on a water jet.

Re: Feeler for Engine Swap Crossmembers

I just mounted up my 6.0/4L60E combo last week in my 70 4x4, I used the CPP LS engine conversion cossmember, had to narrow it up it fit between the 4x4 frame rails by trimming 1.5 inches off each end then it fit and functioned perfect. Used a 1989 241C transfercase and crossmember from an 89 suburban, fit is factory perfect my 6.0 is at 5.0 degrees as per GM's recommendations, easy install with these parts. The 241 has cable drive for the speedo and I used the speedsensor adaptor from Advanced Adaptors to mate it to the 4L60E with no output shaft changes needed.
