Sigh! If Uncle Sam hadn't just hit me with the tax bill, I'd so be on my way north to grab that thing.

Wow, that certainly looks straight and unmolested. I see it still has the hard pipe to the radiator, the rare thermostat bypass, and the original black plates. Somebody is going to end up with a beautiful truck.

Re: 1966 OEM original cl not mine!

Talked to the guy selling... Some good news and some bad. In a word, rust. from his description and cell pics, isolated rust only on the drivers rocker and passenger windshield pillar ..??... never heard of rust starting there before and not being elsewhere.
Anybody real close to Fremont/Newark that can take a look? I'll give ya somethin' if I buy it. PM me - BP

Re: 1966 OEM original cl not mine!

i thought 327 wasn't available til 66?? If original, perhaps a very late year 65 model - Hmmm... Sweet. Too bad some rust issues, but it sure does look good.

EDIT: or was that just the case for half tonners?

Great question, Jocko. I was thinking the very same thing.

OEM,

I know several of the 67-72 guys live in that area. It may be worth posting a link there asking if someone could check it out.

Yes, became a regular option in mid '65 on some series. All you '65 owners, just check your kick panel tag. Will show 327 if yours was built at mid year and later.

sometimes mice will live up inside the roof above where the sunvisors go, thier urine/nests will rust out the roof.

Re: 1966 OEM original cl not mine!

How the heck do they (mice) get up there? According to sellers description is, no rot in roof or cowell, rust is only in right hand A pillar??
I don't get it. Is this odd or what? I gotta take a look, problem is it's six hours away. Ya just never can tell what somebody is lookin at.

Re: 1966 OEM original cl not mine!

I don't know about mice, but I have seen this area rust because of the drainage holes being plugged up. When water puddles in this area for a long time it begins to erode the metal under the factory caulking. Water and moisture begins to rust everything under this area all the way down to the bottom of fenders and rockers. But more common on the '60-'63 era than the '64-'66 era.
