Waiting....Waiting...Waiting...will I ever get it?
A few months ago, a fellow board member that I met at a car show made me an offer to buy his '72 2wd Blazer that is in UNBELIEVABLY good shape. After he emailed me pics, I realized the Blazer was EXACTLY what I was looking for when I started my search. A few weeks later, I made the drive to his house to take a look. And I had to have it. But it was around Christmas, and funds were tight, so I worked out a deal with him to buy it... but I wasn't going to give him all the money until I got my tax return. So, I've been waiting...
And this has been tough, because I am pretty excited about getting started on it. I've been parts collecting/dreaming/planning/and getting ready. The board member, turned out to be one of the nicest guys I've ever met. And his word was like oak. Rock solid. I've gotta say, this guy is a class act. To be honest, I don't even know if I would've waited this long to finish a deal. But oh well . . . I appreciate his flexibility. Anyway... I finally completed the payment on the Blazer, and I contacted the shipping company to schedule a pick up to deliver it to my dads house in West Virginia. (paint shop-haha) And I started waiting... again. So, I got a call last Friday and he said he had a truck scheduled to pick it up on Sunday. I would have it Monday. So, I kept waiting. Sunday came and the pickup happened and it appeared my wait was almost over... but I guess a plate on the trailer broke and he had to take it to a shop to get it fixed. So I was stuck... waiting until today when he could get on the road. Well, the schedule was interupted once again around 5:00 this evening when the shipper's truck broke down. It is now locked up (still on the trailer) in a storage lot at a Chevy Dealership in Princeton, WV- 35 minutes from my dads house. So, we are left waiting ... one more night for my Blazer to arrive. (of course, I am in NC, so once he takes delivery of it, I'll still be waiting) But, after it gets there, I will be going up to play with it a little. After all... I was so excited about finding it, I didn't even drive it the day I went to his house. This is what it looked like the last time I saw it...

Re: Waiting....Waiting...Waiting...will I ever get it?
plans? haha. That's all I have right now. My dad is trying to talk me into a Burb sibling...
(it's been the "Winter of the Rendering") topless... top on... Interactive top on/topless video http://s213.photobucket.com/albums/c...t=745209d0.mp4 [IMG][/IMG] Or I've also considered a change (I have a '68 front clip) -probably stay away from the white walls. I drive 'em too much OR... maybe even red?!?

Love them both, but the 68 is really really cool.

Re: Waiting....Waiting...Waiting...will I ever get it?
I too, like them both. It would be a pretty hard decision. Although if you went for the smaller sibling approach, just imagine how many people you would confuse from day to day

Re: Waiting....Waiting...Waiting...will I ever get it?
Wonder if I could convince anyone it was the same vehicle. With a body size "reduction" function to save fuel mileage.

Re: Waiting....Waiting...Waiting...will I ever get it?
I'm not usually a fan of the '67/'68 front end on a Blazer just because I don't think the lines go well on a 4WD truck. However on a 2WD, that two tone red '68 is just sexy. I can understand not going with whitewalls, but they're really what make it.
I like orange on these Blazers, but that red one could almost make me hack up my 4WD to build one just like that. Almost.

Nice Score!! I vote red & white with the whitewalls bleach white works great on daily drivers so no need to worry about that

Re: Waiting....Waiting...Waiting...will I ever get it?
Red and white was my initial plan. (hence the nickname "The Red Sled") I am a huge fan of Dodge Viper Red, I had a '72 Monte Carlo in that color and I grew to love it. It is supposed to be for my son, but he is young and I have to convince him that Blue and White with orange flames won't look good. (he's 7) He even painted his pinewood derby Blazer in that scheme in an effort to convince me -see photo below I started pushing for orange and white thinking he would decide to "have it like dads" but we'll see!
As far as our "waiting game" goes. I just got a call. The Chevy dealership i replacing the wiring harness for the tow vehicle. It'll be now be tomorrow evening before the Blazer arrives at my dads. At least I am not the only one waiting. There is another vehicle on the trailer too, so some other poor guy is pulling his hair out too. So, we'll keep waiting!

Congrats, Jeff!!! Have your dad send some pics so you can post them up! Looks like a very nice Blazer (was going to say "start", but that's an understatement).

Re: Waiting....Waiting...Waiting...will I ever get it?
WELL... I did say ONE of the nicest guys. Haha... I've met a few on here. I was settled on the 71/72 grille and I even put the '68 clip on Craigslist, but I change my mind a lot. I haven't returned any calls for the front clip. haha!

Breaking News...
It arrived. (sharing trailer space with a pretty sweet '55) Yeah, I have a hatch for it. Pretty anxious to swap it out. In fact I have a whole top.

Glad to see she's home for now! I'm not gonna know what to do having just one 2wd blazer sitting at home now! I'm happy she went to a good home and I'm sure we'll meet up again soon.

nice find, i like the Burb Sibling idea, think it would look pretty sweet having both of them on the road at the same time.
