How do I install a new Window Regulator? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I just spent the last 45 min trying to figure out how to install a new window regulator in my 56 GMC pickup. The old one bound up and I had to take it out in peaces. Can anyone tell me How to do this ..do I have to take the channel off the bottom of the window? Do I need to crank the new regulator part way up ??? Any help would be great

Pretty sure you'll have to remove the vent wing, at the very least take out the two bolts holding the bottom track in place. It's in the way of the regulator coming out. You'll probably also have to take the window track screws loose and at least hold the window up while swapping the regulator. Been a couple years since I did my one piece conversion but I remember it sucking getting the wing loose. I replaced my 56's regulator 2 days ago in about 45 minutes but didn't have to fight the vent wing (cause I don't have one) Not too bad, but take your time and walk away when the urge to throw things takes ya!
