16.5 tires

As time goes by it is getting harder to find tires for my 16.5 rims . At what point do i look for new rims ? Anyone have used tire supply ?

if you're interested in 37" tires, there's a place in GA that sells (not sure about shipping) military surplus humvee tires for a 16.5" wheel.

I as gonna do the same same thing. I bought 2 16.5x10in wide steelies, and 2 16.5x8.5pm steelies for the front. I ended up just putting them for sale on craigslist for scrap price. I'm just gonna go and buy 20's

Super swamper makes quite a few selections with the 16.5 rim, i believe BFGoodrich still makes the AT tire in that size as well. I have some 16.5s on one of my trucks with 33x12.5 BFGoodrich mud terrains, but they dont make that size anymore. and the military still uses them on all the HMMVW's, but only in either 36x12.5 or 37x12.5, it is a shame they are phasing them out, but such his life.

I had trouble finding stock size tires for my old K-20, junkyard trip got me set up with 16's. Just about any old 16" 8 bolt interchange. It wasn't worth my effort to look further.
I was changing rims anyway as the PO used split rims off of an older pickup.

OK, it wasn't just the junkyard, 2 were on the side of the road with a FS sign.

The 16.5" is still common enough with the offroad and mudding crowd that you can find the bigger size tires easily enough. But it's just not easy finding anything under 35 inches tall.

My 79 1 ton uses those 16.5" wheels. About 4 years ago I had to buy a pair of front tires, and even then they were getting harder to find a simple 9.5x16.5 Which are approximately 29" tall.

I also use a D or E load range tire for towing, which makes my search even more difficult. This isn't a truck for big 37" tires or any type of off road tire so that is out of the question. Unfortunately like others mentioned that seems to be what's left in the market now.

Not sure what the original poster wants exactly, but I know within the next couple of years when I need another set of tires for this truck,,,,I'll be buying 16" wheels to make the search easier with more brand choices. May as well go with an aluminum wheel at that point and free up some rotational mass at the same time.....Hang the 16.5's up in the shop for a little wall art,,,lol.
