Big-time hesitation

My '05 5.3 is showing a code for an evap sensor (or something like that, I'm not the greatest mechanic in the world), but my mechanic says that it should be ok to drive until it is replaced. Well....now the truck has started hesitating really bad under accelleration. Could this sensor be causing my problem? Is it just water in the gas? I have the tank full with a bottle of HEET in it with no improvement, yet. Thanks for your help in advance.

autozone will scan it for free and give you all the codes it could be.

Re: Big-time hesitation

Ok, my buddy at O'Reilly's scanned it for me, and got random misfire, two O2 sensors, and the evap deal from earlier. I dropped it off to my mechanic last night. Thanks again for your responses.

Re: Big-time hesitation

you can fix the o2 sensers real easy. and the misfire i bet that might be your spark plug wires.
