66 shoulder belts

Does anyone have good pics of the rare 66 shoulder belts? I want to install them when I change my inner panel to Big Window. I have found a 66 that has the holes for them so I can use the mounting plates and get the exact location for the holes... all I need now is to know what they look like so I can have some made up.

This is what I have so far

Re: 66 shoulder belts

We just recently converted my 66 cab to a BBW from a small bw and I never noticed it had the belt anchors up there till I saw your thread just today. My 66 C30 cab chassis was made in July, 1966 and it had these seat belt anchors and plugs but my original 66 short fleet built in April-May 66 does not have them. We can't remember what the anchor looked like but it had to have a bracket with anchor nut going back to the channel on the door opening post frame work. I looked at the inner cab small panel cut out piece and there is nothing at all been attached to the backside of that panel but the bolt hole itself and plug. Wish I would have thought about that while we had that inner cab piece totally trimmed out for the BBW panel. I guess I should now keep a corner of the removed inner cab sheet metal for a hole guide if I want to add shoulder belts down the road. Should just have to cut the hole in the exact location and my nut backing should still be in place for me. Sorry.

Re: 66 shoulder belts

No threads in panel. It was a smooth clean straight hole and probably a stamped out access hole and then painted fawn on the interior side and a black plug just like in the pictures above in it. There is nothing tacked to the inner rear cab sheet metal which I have still that was removed and replaced with a BBW panel. So a nut/bracket has to have been welded to the back side of the door opening framework the only thing of subsistence in that corner. We removed the entire small window rear inner cab sheet metal piece all the way out to the post spot welds. Never even took a picture or looked at that shoulder belt mount when the cab was open.

Re: 66 shoulder belts

I am at work tonight but I can get the vin tomorrow. Both trucks are Janesville and one time you gave me the month the C30 was built but the engine stamp date was 0707 if I remember exactly.
I will take a shot of the back side of that panel but you can clearly see the spot welds on the front surface of the one you have and mine absolutely has no threaded hardware attached to the back of the panel. The plug looks simulair but only fits the hole.

Re: 66 shoulder belts

from my dealings with this the Janesville did not have the bolt screw hole and the plug was appx 1/2" hole . the fremont and st Louis trucks had the screw and bolt. with a push in barbed plastic plug . I would like to know when chevy started this .I have a 3rd week june truck that has them all the july trucks have them that I have ran into . my friend has a may truck does not have them . maybe it was a 1 st of the month in june? that why I asked for vinsand buildsheets are the best to narrow down the weeks mike

Re: 66 shoulder belts

I got called in a couple of hours early to work tonight and got nothing done when I woke up this afternoon. I have the plug right in my pocket and it is just a 1/2" plug with no barbed edge just fits the 1/2 hole.
I appologize but I will try tomorrow to get the vin of it. Most of my trucks are Janesville with one St Louis. This is the only shoulder harness hole truck I have and it is a Janesville truck.
So they must have started using stamped out hole sheet metal cab panels but didnt have enough new anchor hardware on hand to spot weld them in behind it? Then maybe they sparingly installed the hardware only on the trucks that were getting the shoulder belt as a factory installed option at that time? I am 99% sure my truck was early July built as the chassis went over to a camper conversion company in Kansas and was made into a 67 model walkin camper using a 66 chassis and vin.

Re: 66 shoulder belts

This is the picture of the Janesville built C30 cab inner back panel backside of the shoulder belt hole. So Yelmer would you say there was no nut/bracket behind the panel on my truck? I sure wish I would have been there when my friend cut that panel piece out and welded the big back window section in. Again this just had a plastic 1/2 black hole plug in the hole. Mark

Re: 66 shoulder belts

i have a 66 small back window cab leftover from all of my other truck builds from the past and it has the black rubber plug for the shoulder harness belts too and it was built in flint michigan.i do not know if it just has the plug or the threaded nut.of all the 66 trucks i have owned it is the only one with the plugs.most of my other 66's were built in atlanta and they did not have them.

check the vin number on the one that has it. it is probably a june or july truck . looks to me that it was at the end of the assembly run in 66 when these were installed
