Talking 1969 Custom- 175 buck special

My dad's employing company was selling this 69 custom for 1000 bucks. It was missing, and running rough according to the company Gearhead. I had only glanced it from a distance, and figured it had a weak straight 6 and it was beat.
Upon closer investigation, I discovered the old girl was in very good shape. I popped the hood and found a very clean 350 and Turbo Hydramatic. after much haggling and calling local scrap yards, I put in an offer of 200. they bit, and I wagered that they already owed me 25 bucks for contract labor, and they took. The next day I drove home the lurching beast. The engine ran rough and the brakes barely worked, on top of sketchy intermittent electrical issues. A week later and a tuneup, brake fluid bottle, and voltmeter later she's back on the road running incredibly smooth.
After a well deserved bath, I must say the old puke green olive paint cleans up alright. the truck has minimal body damage. My plans are to Paint it black (rolling stones reference) with some form of striping, and rebuild the 350 (which still burns rubber). This is my first GMC, and I'm looking for any ideas from you guys as to what I should do. Any low budget upgrades or improvements I should make? As it sits it's completely stock minus the custom options from the factory. Rock on.

First issue: randomly losing power to my turn signals, windshield wipers, and radio at the same time, usually in ten second intervals. Any ideas?
