Grabbing the gears
For a long time now I have been looking for a set of shift knobs for my truck, but nothing was fitting what I wanted, I wanted it to be a statement that someone that knew something about working on things would say "now that is pretty cool." So one day my rear end bearings went out and I was just doing an axle swap and had a bunch of parts laying around. I had the pinion gear and a couple other things in a box on my front seat and was showing a friend and he was like that would make a cool shift knob and I just said ya it would but it is way to heavy, so I just threw the whole idea out. but then I saw my spider gears in there and picked it up and said that would make a cool shift knob. so then my mind started to wander. so what I did is i took it to a local machine shop and had them make a piece that I could press fit into the middle and then drill and tap it and presto we have a cool shift knob

Re: Grabbing the gears
They look awesome. How's the feel when grabbing gears, especially if "power" shifting?

Re: Grabbing the gears
That's a cool way to go. Nothing says rugged like a couple of side gears looking at you. Your pictures show me what my truck would be like if I used one of the '70 NP205 shifters I have. That know has no pattern on it,correct?
Posts do that when the pictures are bigger. It even happens when you attach files. You'd think using that feature would make the picture fit the screen.
