OK a little back ground.
My truck has a aftermarket compressor and condensor for 134-RA. I have a 20" electric fan out of the junk yard wired to the AC switch ran through a relay. I also have a manual water valve in the heater line to stop all hot water flow to inside the cab during the summer. I blocked off the cowl vent Under the passenger side and left the passenger side vent inside the cab open when running the AC. It's a manual operated one I never installed the vacume one. This keeps the air inside the truck colder and recirculates it.
I put a shot of this in the truck the other night.

Here is the outside temp. per the truck outside temp probe.

Here is the inside temp 41 degree's sitting still in the garage.
Sorry the flash wipped out the scale. It's sitting on 41.
I have owned this truck since 1986 and it has never been this cold since I installed the AC a few years after buying the truck. Before this last mod I had to keep the fan speed on high are I would start sweating.

Now when I drive it it drops to about 38 -36. This is all on med fan setting and I have been turning it off before I reach work which is a 15 mile ride in the afternoon.
Just wondering what everyone elses does on hot days.
I really enjoy driving it to work.

41 should keep you from sweating ...

That's cool... no pun. I think the drop is normally only 25 degrees or so. Is there some magic ingredient in this product or is was it just a side-effect of bringing up a low system?

Well I used this same product a few weeks pryer to my truck in my sons S-10. He swore it was colder than normal. I put a whole can in his though because it was low.
I went to check mine and it was on the low side of the blue mark on the scale which was OK but me being me I added maybe a 1/2 can. The level has always been good as the scale said maybe it just needed that little extra I don't know.

I understand this is an old thread but hopefully you will reply. just wondering why you would open the passenger vent and not keep it closed?

That is the recirculating door, you want it open with the AC on or the volume of air coming out your vents will be very low.

The passenger side vent being open is to recirculate the cold air like in late model cars. The outside cowl vent is sealed off so that the fan pulls the air inside the cab back through the evaporator and keeps from pulling in hot air from out side. This keeps the cab nice and cool.
