Rim Fitment Question
Does anyone know if the 6 hole rim on this 76 Chevy 4 x 4 is a 15 x 8 and will it fit my 69 CST? My truck looks so lame with the stock 15 x 6's. I want to keep the original hubcaps on the truck but would like to have 15 x 8 steel rims to go with the 255/70R15's I have for the truck.

Re: Rim Fitment Question
No problem that I can see. Should look good and fit just fine. You would be back fitting disc brake wheels to a drum truck, no clearance issues. Tossing one on your truck before you dismount or mount a new tire is a good idea all the same.

Re: Rim Fitment Question
Sorry, I apparently misread your question to state the wheels were 15x8". So I did some digging and in '76 stock K10 wheels were 15x6" 6 lug 5.5" bolt pattern Hollander #939B. For a 15x8 the styled steel wheel with 10 holes would fit and ran from '74-88. I'm sure there is a Chevrolet standard 15x8 6lug wheel out there but at the moment it escapes me. Found these if any info here would help as they are sold. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=504488

Re: Rim Fitment Question
Thanks for the info Tim. I have a set of 6 hole 15 x 8 Bud wheels and also a set of 6 hole 15 x 8 Rallys but want to keep the stock hubcaps with 15 x 8's. I do enjoy the hunt looking for parts and trucks.

Re: Rim Fitment Question
There's always ebay or the aftermarket.

Re: Rim Fitment Question
Yes, you are right but the shippings costs take all the fun out of doing that.

Re: Rim Fitment Question
I think the full caps will snap over a rally wheel. I can't tell by your pic if that is a 15x8 on the truck.

Re: Rim Fitment Question
No my truck has the original rims and they are 15 x 6's and that is why they look so lame. The wheel and tire sit too far inside the wheel well with the 15 x 6's. Finding 6 hole rallys could be challenging. I do have nice set of 6 hole rallys with caps and rings and I will try your idea of snapping one of the stock hubcaps on one of them. I'm sending you a PM about another matter.

Re: Rim Fitment Question
I remember when you bought that cool truck!! I like the 15x6's on there myself, don't think they're lame at all! I was going to post a link to Scott's (crewcab59) sale, but I see you already found it a few weeks ago and looks like he hasn't had a chance to write back. I bought some 15x6's from him and he gets new ones from time to time - I'd pm him (if you haven't already) or keep looking for some originals - they would look much nicer on your truck than Bud wheels, but that's just pers opinion, which means zero! Not sure about the rally approach, that might work. I believe the 15x8 steelies came on Blazers (maybe some trucks, not sure) in the mid-70's and they can be a bit of a challenge to find, that's probably why Scott's were so popular. 6 lugs could only be had on 4x4's after '70. I bought some 15x6 steelies from a mid-70's 4x4 so I could clear disks on my 66. The 70 and earlier won't clear disk brake calipers, and I might want to upgrade to that someday, so at least I have the wheels if I choose to.
Btw, love that truck still - to this day I think that was one of the best deals I've ever seen on a very cool combo of color and options on a truck. it's sweet. |

Re: Rim Fitment Question
Thanks Jocko. I've been driving the truck and really like it. As usual being a 43 year old truck I've alreasdy had to do a few things like replace the brake light switch, repair a broken wire so the left rr signal light will work and change the speedo cable. The HVAC controls are all stuck and a vent door is jammed open as it cool/cold air blows in at 40/50MPH and the fan switch doesnt work. Its just a bunch of little things need to be done but that is expected on an old truck like this.
