Frame Swapping

So I want to fix my Blazer frame. It's 4x4 and all I can find is 2wd. Question is will a 2wd front frame section from the straight part in the middle forward fit if I save all the brackets from the 4x4? I would like to just go to the junk yard and sawzall this section off and weld it to my frame. It's not a show truck just a boat -launcher.

Re: Frame Swapping

Thank you sir. It is hard to find these at all in Florida as they rust right away. But now and then I find an old work truck and think "Wow, My new dewalt sawzall could just cut that piece out and for about $25 I could fix my frame. It looks the same to me but thought I would get a second opinion.

Re: Frame Swapping

Well, not to step on any toes or anything, but I dont think they are the same. I think the 4x4 frames have a higher arch in the front.

Re: Frame Swapping

just take a striaght edge, ie a level and get some measurements of your 4wd frame then do the same to the doner 2wd frame and that will give you the answer. But i believe they are the same other than the core mount brackets and spring mounts. only major diff is in the rear section above axle.
