Re: whats this bracket?

It's for the jack. These trucks came with a small bottle jack. A long spring held it in place. The handle was in a sack and pinned along the rear column with a spring.

Of course after 40 plus years these jacks were either lost, damaged, discarded or replaced with better ones like the one I have now.

Here's a pic of what it should look like without the jack.

Re: whats this bracket?

After taking another look at yours, it's a little different and seems to be located in a different location than mine. It may be a snap type holder for the handle?? My cab truck is a 68.

Re: whats this bracket?

I have the same one in my 68 and another bracket about 10 or 12 inches away, near the trans. hump.

Re: whats this bracket?

See if this picture helps, not sure who deserves the credit. It helped me quite a bit trying to figure out how the jack handle is supposed to be stored on my '67. LocDoc also has some great pictures and a detailed Jack Location Decal.

Good Luck!

Bob

In picture above the bottle neck jack is installed backwards. Originally the base fit in the recessed area and the neck under the spring. At least that's how it was installed on mine before I got rid of the old jack.

Re: whats this bracket?

68gmsee is correct about the jack. That picture is how my 68 is.
