Price of tires.. OMG!!!
I must be getting old! I'm looking for a set of BFG radial T/A 215/70/15 front and 275/60/15 rear.. Basically over $400 without shipping and $80 to ship.. I know fuel has gone way up since I last bought a set 3 years ago, but hello.. Talk about sticker shock!!

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
I bought those exact tires from Americas Tire Co about 8 months ago, right at $400 installed. They had an instant $50 rebate special going. I would check out your local shop, they have the best prices and usually some kind of deal.

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
Thanks for the info. I will check my local dealer. However, they are usually way more expensive than the online prices.. Fingers crossed.

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
Last time i took in wheels and tires to be mounted up to my local discounttire of all places they told me I should have called. They would have matched price and not charged shipping. This was even for a set of tires/wheels not listed on their site.
Worth a call.

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
I kinda understand the 20" tire thing.. 10 years ago my wife paid $1300 for some BFG KDW's. But over $400 for some 15" tires is crazy to me..

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
No kidding! I stopped by my local Discount Tire the other day shopping for Radial T/A's for my rallies. Quoted me almost $700 for a pair of 275/60's and pair of 2something5/60's for the front. He seemed to get upset when I was shocked it wasn't in the $300's and told me they had never been that cheap in the 15 yrs he'd been selling tires. I know i bought a set of 255/70's in the late 90's for $300.
Oh and $65 just to balance the decent 235/70 no names I have on the rallies already. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
I always ran Cooper cobras because they were very similar to the bfg's but cheaper. May check into them.

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
I bought 275/60/15's last year, like October and I paid $112 each ( now they are $142. each) plus the $9 million for mounting and balancing.

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
I bought a set of 255/70/15 radial ta's last week and they were $615 installed. I think tire prices are ridiculous.
I use to work in a tire building factory and we produced tires for $7.50 a tire average price. They shut us down because we couldn't compete with thier mexican plant which could build tires for $5 on average. That tells you how much of a mark up there is. This was five years ago, but I'm sure production costs havn't went up enough to justify the cost of tires.

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
The point is ALL tire prices have spiked in the last year or two...and so have batteries. Tires and batteries have remained at about the same price for an awfully long time...it seems forever. Then, all at once they spikes and it seems like such a rip off. I need tires for my Harley. I needed them late last summer, but due to money being tight,I held off and road very little to make them last. I just talked to the shop yesterday and they've all gone up 18%. That's 18% all at once! A $100 tire now costs $118. Actually the tires cost almost twice that, like $180@. They've gone up about $35@ x 2 = $70 more than last fall

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
See if you can go straight to a tire distributor in your area. My dad sent me straight to the local distributor his shop buys tires from, I got a set of tires for $15 below retail per tire. Plus the distributor mounted the tires. Got a set of 15" Falkens for My honda for 280 installed

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
According to some, the tsunami's killed a large portion of the rubber trees and caused the cost of rubber go up.I personally think that most people believe that to be BS but how can you prove it and what difference would it make. They're gonna charge as much as they can get away with.I've started running Khumo's due to price, but I don't do much "sport" driving.I did buy BFG's for the panel 3 years ago 225/255/70/15 $417.00 mounted balanced and out the door.Too bad my tire guy moved on.

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
I'm going to be running 6.5" and 8" factory six lug steelies with trim rings and 73-87 1/2 ton dog dish caps. I'm going to take acetone to take the paint off the caps. No complete pictures yet, still have to paint the wheels factory color.

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
I just bought a set of suminoto tires for my wife's Honda accord and they were $450 shipped. I thought that was a bit expensive, but was blown away by the price hike in the BFGs. I might try the Cooper route. My son will love it since that's his name.

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
I go by used tire places all the time looking. Also look on craigslist for ugly wheels with good bfg's on them...most know the bfg's are pricey but some don't...
With the price on the BFG's and the fact I can get 4 20's mounted and balanced with almost new tread for around 200...makes me want to go 20's instead of rally wheels...

Re: Price of tires.. OMG!!!
I used to buy michelins for my box truck . Talk about sticker shock! Top of the line load range E xps rib, was $1,100.00 (2007) now same tires $2,800.00!!!!! too rich for my blood. I spent $1,100.00 and got tires that suck. Drive for 30 minutes and they get so hot they smell like burnt rubber. Mostly because they are burning! oh the high cost of business! cheers, Pat
