windshield prices?
Priced a windshield for my 72 GMC, they priced it at 280.00 plus tax installed. I thought that was high. Whats a good price? Anyone know a place in Dallas?

Re: windshield prices?
I priced a PPG glass from the locals here. I think it was like $110 and that wasn't installed. I got a gasket from LMC for $27.00 plus shipping.

Re: windshield prices?
$288 plus tax does seem a little high to me.
I had a local upholestery shop replace mine with gasket for just a little over $200 total. Of course, it was a few years ago, so prices may have gone up on stuff. Keith |

Re: windshield prices?
The place I use [Discount Auto Glass] the give me a 30 breakage warranty on all the glass I buy. They even cover it if I break it putting it in good people to deal with and that is one reason I have used them for many years. The highest winshield I ever bought from them was a mazda truck widshield and it was 135. Everytrhing else has been cheaper than that. Sometimes I get them to install because it is about cheaper to let them do it usally less than 150 installed. I had one put in a 05 Silverado this week for 150

Re: windshield prices?
I paid $400 for both front and back installed. It's USA glass not chinese junk that gets moisture between. Why high? The labor is higher for any glass with chrome trim and mine has chrome trim front and back

Re: windshield prices?
My local wrecking yard has them for $75 new and will install for $50 labor. Didn't price a seal with them as I already have a new seal to go in.
You might want to check with your local wrecking yard and see if they sell new glass too.
