I had 3" drop spindle on my old C10, and ran a 15" wheel, but yes, backspace does have to be right. Too much, and they will hit. IIRC, I have 8's with a 4.5" backspace, but I am not for certain. It was a long time ago...

I have a set of DJM 3 inch drop spindles. With the factory rally wheels there is about a millionth of an inch of clearance and it is best to grind just a tiny bit off of the caliper mounting arm (upper one I believe). Works just fine then. I hate grinding metal off of suspension parts though. Works great with anything better than 15s

Try this site. I got the 3-5 kit from them which ended up being a 4-5 because it also came with 1" drop springs. The spindles are 194.95 plus shipping. I had to do a little grinding with the stock 15x8 rallys but it wasn't much. Really nice quality. |

3" drops require grinding on the caliper and my weights rub on the lower control arm on a full turn. Looks cool though..lol

I have 3" drop spindles (Bell Tech) and 6.5" truck rallyes. After I trimmed and boxed the lower control arm they still rub. From my research 7" truck rallyes or a wheel with 3.5" back space will not rub on the control arm.

IF you run a wheel that has a backspace of 3.25" or less, then there is no worry about the rubbing. I did that for several years until I stepped up on rim size. I have not had any issue with my rims rubbing with my 3" drop spindles and I also included a 1" drop front spring that I placed with a thin spacer to actually gett 3.5" drop. You can also go to a large diameter rim and use a 17" or 18" rim for the spacing.
