Talking Power Brake Booster

Can anyone identify my brake booster? If not can any one recommend one? This one has plastic collar in rear and has broken and doesn't work any more.

Re: Power Brake Booster

Surprisingly, i found out recently autozone also carries replacements for the factory boosters for our trucks as well. They are advertised on their website. It is remanufactured by a company by the name of Cardone. I'll try to attach a picture from their website. This one is for a 1960.

Re: Power Brake Booster

I can't tell from that view. I need to see the backside more. Either way, someone has fabricated a custom bracket to mount the booster to the firewall. This was likely done to cover the holes for both the brake master and clutch master on the '60-'62 Chevy's and the '60-'63 GMC's, and provide a mounting place for the booster. I agree that the master appears to be original for a '64-'66 truck.

Very nice looking engine/engine compartment.

Re: Power Brake Booster

The master is a stock piece. The booster bracket seems to be attached (welded)at factory. The rod has been modified to work with this booster and i want to try to find a manufacture that makes it. I will try to get more photos and post asap.

Re: Power Brake Booster

I had a power brake booster very similar to that in my Chevelle, that came out of a 64 GM intermediate (I don't remember which one, sorry). It factory mounted flush to the firewall just like that does.

Captain, I have a drum/drum MC, and a Booster for a 67 Impala, will the same bracket work for me? I have a 66C10, 2WD, 283.
Hope I am not intruding in this thread...

Re: Power Brake Booster

Which bracket are you referring to? The one in this thread, or the ones that I sell? Maybe send me a PM so we don't hijack this thread any more.

Re: Power Brake Booster

Whoa, looks like someone welded those brackets to the booster. Hopefully they disassembled the booster before doing that.

When I replied to your PM, I sent you the link to the '63-'66 booster bracket. I didn't realize you were the guy who posted this thread. Here is a link to the '60-'62 booster bracket for sale thread.

Part Number is 54-73537. $154.00 includes $40 core charge. Listed under 65-66 Chevy C-10 Pick up. It comes with brakets already installed. As you can see i painted the booster and the brakets.

Re: Power Brake Booster

m455sx, just to clarify, you bought a 65-66 c10 booster and bolted it right up to your 62 c10? no mods or anything needed? Longer rod or anything needed? clutch rod, etc?

Re: Power Brake Booster

Nope, the rod appears to be out of the same year truck i guess( look at the begining pictures). All i did was pull the bolt shaped pin and everything went back together. The rod has threads for adjustment and i adjusted until all play was taken out. I am not sure if the rod in the pictures was custom made or from same year truck?
