RIveted some patches on a couple of small holes in my floor last nite .( all I have time to do now ) Got some galvanized POR 15 ed the backs and stuck em down Got all done and realized A real redneck would have used old license plates Screwed up again .
Seriously does anyone know the source of the water\moisture that rots out the kick panel floor joint . Must be a design defect Seems that it might come from a bad seal around the windshield then behind the dash to the floor but not sure . Does'nt help to fix the result with out fixing the cause .

I believe the rust at the floor kick panel joint is caused by water/debris accumulation in the rocker/front pillar area. The rockers are not vented enough to dry out the area and the rocker vents are so small any dirt getting into the rockers cannot get out.

Also, any windshield/antenna/cowl leaks will allow water to get in the corners without a way to be dried up.

When salt is added to the area, real rustout will occur!

On our AC cab that we are in the process of painting, I made another vent in the rocker and opened up the other drains. Also,
I am leaving the front plug out so that air can circulate better.
(The cab is from Arizona and is in great condition).

JimK Looks loke a multitude of potential water problems . Have to check into additoinal drainage Not planning on driving mine in the winter so salt won't be a problem It's a N. Carolina truck so isn't too bad Would like to preserve whats left so when I do have time ( after the 59 ) there will be something left

Tom There's places in NYS where the inhabitants have necks as red as any south of the Mason Dixon Course without the southern drawl something is kinda lost .

I bought a K/5 rolling frame for parts last year. The rust corners in the floor were patched with flattened Pepsi cans and JB Weld. A surfboard decal gives the former owners'lifestyle away.
A rust patch in the passenger side cab floor of my '68 stepside, I figure, was caused by "CocaCola Syndrome." Every hot day I sip a cold pop then let the can roll around loose on the passenger side so it doesn't get underfoot on the driver's side and interfere with brake, clutch or gas pedal operation. A few drops dribble out and eat away at the floor pan. After 30 years this has an accumulative effect. Sometimes when the college kids are back in town, a riceball cuts me off and my big gulp spills: ergo massive corrosion.

I sent a friend in West Virgina a couple of Neighborhood watch sign's to place on his 580 acre ranch . He gave one to a guy who was doing some work for him to cover a hole in his trailer's floor.

Gee I've used all that was listed,duct tape, road signs, pop cans bailin'wire and even a old Honda 305 muffler one time. When mine fell off. So that makes me a 1st class redneck!!! LOL!!!

lets see so far my inner redneck has used bailing wire and jb weld to fix a radiator, held a carb together with bailing wire for a few months after the screws fell out, held the muffler to the car with bailing wire, fixed holes in floors, walls with licence plates as a matter of fact right now i nave a 3/4in. plywood stop sign repairing the floor under my water heater. i have used duct tape for a hole in the firewall, holding on body parts, and transporting furniture in the bed. if that isnt redneck enough i have even seen a cracked engine block on a tractor repaired with jb weld and bailing wire.

my favorite way to fix a rusty floor, is to just stick a heavy piece of rubber conveor belt over it, works best in the box of the truck.
