Ah yes, ALL the electrical. What a pain, but everything is so integrated with the Quadrasteer computer there is no separating it. At least no one has ever done it and I wasn't about to try it and screw up!

That's it hanging down in the rear. It is huge, at least twice as big as the engine computer. I had to rebuild the mounting bracket lower to not hit the bed floor, but still high enough not to interfere with the spare tire. Spare is not mounted in this picture.

The button allows you to change modes. 2WS, 4WS, and 4WS tow mode. Tow mode only lessens the 4WS effect, so it doesn't get used often.
The way the 4WS works is opposite the front at low speed to tighten the turning radius - about the same as a Honda Accord - IN A TRUCK!!!
At high speed above 45 mph the wheels turn with the fronts so that on the highway when changing lanes the truck moves more sideways and less rotationally.

Yes it does have full range at full dump which I have pictured in the yard. The rear only steers a little on a Quadrasteer truck. It makes a dramatic difference in parking the truck, especially this one that needed to end up 4 inches longer that the original 2002 Quadrasteer truck. Remember I was married to the 72 Suburban door length plus the cab back + the 72 shortbox length so I could use factory moldings. I could have shortened the bed in the front more and custom made my front and top bedside moldings, but I had seen the pictures of the Gold and White one (see page one of my build), and the proportions of that one looked so right I didn't want to mess up what I knew looked good.

At one point halfway through the build it was a little touch and go. Someone here on the board asked on the build if I had ever heard of Quadrasteer and suggested I might want to look into it. I about had a heart attack!!! I immediately private messaged him and got him to delete his post within about 5 minutes. I told him I was considering it, but didn't want to put it out there yet. He was kind enough to oblige - thanks to whoever you were. (I forgot the name).

I've only been holding this secret inside for 2 years!!! It's been tough keeping that cat in the bag.

Steering sensor enclosed in a waterproof box. This sensor tells the 4WS computer how much I am turning.

Inner bed had to have relief cuts to clear the tires at full tilt and full dump.

I haven't measured it yet, but I am anxious to. In all of this tinkering and re-engineering I discovered that the hubs were able to articulate much more than the computer and electric servo motor would let them. So I remade the tie rod end mount to be closer to the pivot point. That means that when the computer and servo motor say " turn the max amount (12 degrees)" the wheel will actually be steering about 20% more because I changed the fulcrum-end of lever distance. See the tie rod end now versus the other bolt it used to be attached to in the close up picture.

Parking is such a dream that I end up undershooting the spot and have to let off steering at the end.

The bed mat is a blank universal fit that you cut yourself. Very thick and beefy.

Here is my custom plenum piece for connecting my new air unit to my old AC vents. The bottom is open to the new unit. I ended up eliminating the middle vent double sided hose connector and just attached my plenum box directly to it. The outer vents connect by old hoses into each side of my new plenum. Since the plenum is metal it would want to sweat/condensate and drip onto the carpet so I insulated it here with stick on foam insulation.
