Opinions needed

Here is the '68 cab I'm going to be selling (don't ask in this thread). What I need to know is whether or not I should invest in having it repaired before I offer it for sale, or sell it as is. I'm not asking anyone to tell me what it is worth. I don't want anyone to offer to buy it. All I want is for some input as to the better way to offer it for sale....as is, or with new corners and rockers along with some kickpanel/floor work as needed.

Thanks.

Re: Opinions needed

Hi Don. Two ways of looking at it. One is in it's current state anyone can see just what is there and what it will need to make it a solid cab. Two is you pay to have that work done and you will have even more time and $ in it and once primered up one can't see what's under it.
Clearly that fella just isn't going to do the work you paid him to do.
He's had way plenty of time.

Re: Opinions needed

Hey Jim! Long time since I was on here regularly, huh? I'm fed up with the situation and I have gotten over any angst that I had about the deal. I think parting it out is my only option at this time and I should get more of my money back, than trying to sell it all as a basketcase.

I'm going to Petit Jean on Friday, with my youngest son. I'm going to be looking at pricing so I'll be better able to price my stuff on the board and/or on CraigsList.

You and Becky going up?

I think you're on the right track on your comments and that was what I needed to hear. Primer does create issues, doesn't it?

Re: Opinions needed

give the option to buy as is for ? ,or repaired for ?? .that way you can see if there`s any interest before you spent more money on it. Woody

Yeah I've noticed you haven't been around as much. I bet you could move that chassis as a roller at Petit Jean.
You probably don't have enough time to reassemble it, load it and haul up there in time.
Beck and I will be heading south. Maybe it won't be as hot this year for you as it was last time.

Re: Opinions needed

I've debated the roller vs. non-roller chassis question. Right now, it can be carried and placed on jackstands, which is what is happening at this moment. I'm sure there are people on either side of the equation, but some people may feel better about what they have if they know who built it. Different strokes for different folks, we used to say. The chassis has been sandblasted and is painted. So have all of the components of the chassis, including the rear end, brake drums and driveshaft. It all looks pretty decent, too. It's not powdercoating, but it looks good. I have new ball joints for it, but the rear end will need the brakes replaced. Then again, someone may want to upgrade the rear to discs or a posi. It's just like all of the parts form a giant model truck that the future owner will get to assemble. None of the filth and grime that comes with dissambly and I'll throw in the factory shop manual and the aftermarket assembly manual. A little bit of automotive knowledge will take the new owner down a path of less resistance, compared to buying and tearing down a project vehicle.
