Are you on the compression stroke? All the plug wires in the correct location and laid out for the correct direction? (clockwise)

If you are not running a factory plug for power to the cap , and are just running an insulated female spade,, make sure the spade didn't slide in beside the terminal rather than over it. Been there, done that !! it feels like it's connected but it's not.

On the matter of split rims I believe the three piece rims are the ones nobody wants to mess with,, like what would be on an old C50 or so,,, not sure about this but do know that I took an old C50 to the tire shop to get new fronts on it and they wouldn't touch them because of the three piece design. I had to find newer rims for it,, and that was twenty years ago.

jth67: yes it could,that is most likley, if it belching fire you know it getting fire.....that would make your rotor point to # 6 plug wire.....on the cap...

i am so sorry, i told you in the first thread that it wires up counter clockwise.....that is wrong.....it wires up clockwise....i just caught that.....please forgive....wire it up clockwise.......

These are the type of comments that are confusing to some. The photo of your wheel is a factory 2 piece 16" rim. If there is a 16.5 tire on it, that is a dangerous situation. There are warnings on 16" and 16.5" tires to only mount them on 16" and 16.5" wheels. If a 67-72 C 20 came from the factory with 16" wheels, they were 2 piece style wheels.If they came from the factory with 16.5" wheels, they were the one piece wheels. If authenticity is important, both 16" and 16.5" bias ply truck tires can still be had. The very first 16" one piece 8 lug 16" wheels became an option in the mid 70's, but didn't become standard until the early 80's.

Thanks everybody, for all the help.

We finally have it running and took a little cruise, what was keeping us stalled was a major brain fart and I'll just say we were 360 degrees out the whole time.

Trying to light off an intake stroke would be rather difficult! Good to hear of your success. Sounds a lot like the first time I tried to time my IH. If you don't know and I didn't they time off #8!
