Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Stopped by the shop yesterday and the front clip has the body work done and there is primer on it and the firewall. I ordered some porterbuilt hood hinges the other day and will hold off painting the firewall until I get them fitted.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Today, got the front suspension done. I am supposed to have the rear notch Wednesday and with any luck, I will have a rolling chassis by the end of the week.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Thanks! The floor....Im not that far along yet. I actually started taking the inner fenders out today. A lot more than meets the eye. Looks like I will end up cutting the factory ones out and putting new taller ones in. The center has to be cut out and I will probably just make up some kind of cover to go over it.

72 Dropmember Suburban
I have to give it to Nate at Porterbuilt. I know that his build time right now is running about 2-3 weeks. I called him last week asking how quick I could get a notch kit and he told he could get it out on Friday. I said perfect and I went ahead and ordered the hood hinges at the same time. I didnt expect to get the hinges for a while but everything showed up today.
If it wasnt already 105 degrees today, I would be starting on the notches. Guess I will get started early in the morning. |

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Spent the better part of the day getting the notches welded in. They are done and if tomorrow goes like I want, I will have a rolling chassis.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
I have a roller now, well add front wheels and tires and I will. Got the back all finished up.
I think I might to ditch the drop spindles and go back to the factory ones unless I want to use 22s in the front. Next will be getting the hood hinges fitted and getting the back floor cut out. |

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
The body is now at home on the chassis.
The floor and fenders are cut out. Going to have to cut a little more on the inner fenders, they are sitting on top of the tires. |

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
[QUOTE=blfuller123;5468774]Thanks!
I got some fenders that I am going to make work. They are about 3 inches higher than the factory ones. I may try and use the bottom of the factory fenders combined with these and bring them up as far as I can to the brace under the window, and then I will just have to make up some kind of cover for the notch and bridge. QUOTE] My tires went all of the way up and actually touched the brace under the window. I'm not sure what size wheels/tires you're going to run but just something to think about. Good work by the way!!

Yea, I think using these fenders mated up with the factory ones will make it tall enough. What size tires are you running in the back? |

Well, my wife likes the first one so I guess that is the winner. Think I will run the blue up to the bottom of the windows though.
