Disc brakes 67 C10
Hi
Pardon my ignorance but I'm new to C10s & this forum. We are in Australia & it's hard to find anyone here with accurate info on Chevy trucks, we recently bought a 1967 C10 Custom cab, the chassis no. is different to the cab vin no. so I'm not sure if the chassis is a later version or not. The problem we have currently is that the truck has what appears to be a factory front disc brake setup & we need to overhaul the calipers. Nobody here can find a listing for caliper kits & they are saying 67s never came with disc options. Can any one give me some accurate info re disc fitment to 67's & a possible lead for caliper kits thanks in anticipation Richard |

Re: Disc brakes 67 C10
[QUOTE=SoS;5443768]As further info I have found these numbers on the calipers LHS K6474176GM...
RHS 5474177 if that helps anyone. Well a quick google of the castings gave me this: Front Brake Caliper;{Front; Right, w/o Pads, w/o Hydro Boost; FMSI# D52; Casting# 5474177;; Design Delco-1; Complete w/Mounting Ear Work Installed, 1 Per Veh}; Years: 1973-1975;Qty Per Vehicle:1 SO I would assume that the front disc brake parts would interchange with any 1973-1975 C10 chevy truck. C10 means half ton truck two wheel drive most likely any caliper from 73-87 C10 or G10 should work. just be sure to verify that the pistons are the same size. Spencer

Re: Disc brakes 67 C10
Oh being that they are listed as D52 calipers that pretty much means 73-87 C10 series or R10 series 73-90 and G10 73-90?
by the way: trucks are C: 2wd or K: 4wd suburbans are R: 2wd or V: 4wd Vans are G: 2wd

Re: Disc brakes 67 C10
Someone may have switched an entire 73 up front end on or just the spindles/brakes/ball joints/tie rods. Look for any extra holes at the top of the frame where the whole front crosmember bolts on. Either way looks like you should ask for 73 c10 parts when you go in looking.

Re: Disc brakes 67 C10
Hi all
That part no. for the LHS caliper was wrong it should start with 547 not 647, anyway thanks to you guys & a couple of other enquiries it looks like I have calipers off a 73 or there abouts truck. This should get me out of trouble thanks heaps to all Cheers Richard |

Re: Disc brakes 67 C10
SoS,
Welcome to the Forum, you'll like it here. I'm a member of the Chevrolet Car Club of Victoria Inc, www.chevcarclubvic.org.au, and have a 1967 GMC pick up. Our Club has around 800 members, many of whom have trucks of one sort or another. You could contact the Club and post a question about the brakes and it might get a response. I run a business supplying modern integral power steering boxes for US muscle cars and have a power steering box for your model if you need one, plus Saginaw pumps, mounting brackets, hoses, etc. Let me know. Good luck with your project and, please post photos. The Septics love 'em and you'll get a lot more interest from them once they've seen your truck. Regards from Down Under. aussiejohn |

Re: Disc brakes 67 C10
Hi John
Thanks for the welcome, our truck is a shop truck for our tyre service & is only off the road briefly. I must admit I don't have any photos of it even though we've had it for over a year, I gusess because its a worker although it has been to Bright Hot Rod Show & the Sydney Rat Day so it's no ugly duckling. I will have to take some pics when the brakes are back together & it's out of the back corner of the shop. Cheers Richard |
