Effin awesome!!! You've gotta be on nerves-end being this close. Gold or no gold, it's going to be first-class and one of a kind. I can't wait until you get the truck back and start putting it all together. I'll be tuned in around the clock for updates.

That is going to look great!! I like the way the grain looks on that and it is definitely different. Plus if I remember correctly even though it is one of the softer of the hardwoods it is much more resistant to denting and stuff than pine etc

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

if you treat it with bees wax it will age and gets a little darker over time (jellowish/goldsheen)
it will allso show the grain a bit better and gives the wood a bit of a shine , best is to do the treatment before installing the wood put it on thick and onl;y buff out the visible parts so the rest is weatherproof

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

I just watched several Youtube videos about staining Tiger/Quilted maple, i think i will try some Antique Amber stain, it looks like that is the common guitar stain, i have several test panels to see what i think !

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

waterbased stain gets deep intoo the wood usually comes in powderform to be mixed with water and aplied with a brush and a rag
http://www.kedadye.com/
you do need to have it dry thoroughly
it gives the wood a realy deep grain like in the old days with candy apple paint it looks like its inches deep/thick

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

you know i have a wipple supercharger laying around that would fit on that manifold its one made for an LT1
the carb fits on the back of the supercharger
only thing is that i don't have all the hoses with it and i think it misses the boost referencevalve not sure though and im not sure if the old style distributor will clear it

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Well i just got off the phone with Jeff from Bedwood and Parts, they are going to sponsor some bed strips , stain and clear for my bed, in return they want my truck at SEMA i wont be able to be inside (they only have a 10x10 booth) but i will get to show there and hopefully get ALOT of exposure for my truck and SLOSH TUBZ ! That is the good news....The Bad news is that this might end my plans for going to Dino's...i am really torn !

That is awesome news! Really excited for ya, and for someone to step up and sponsor you before you even have everything painted is wild! This build is packed with ups and downs, excitement and thrills......they should make a movie about this one! Ohhh the drama!

SEMA. Party at Dino's if you can make it, if not, drive there next year once you've worked out the bugs...

Mike is that Hugger orange or did you put something else on the motor? It looks really vibrant for hugger.
