lowering plz help?!?!?

Hello every one I am new to this site and am needing alil help. I have a 82 lwb gmc high sierra that i am wanting to lower 4/6 and cant seem to find the right flip kit and lower springs for my truck. If any one can post a link for me to buy one would be much appreciated. I dont want to cut any bed or frame to lower my truck, so im buying a full kit. Prices dont matter but would perfer to keep in mid range prices, not cheap but not wallet breaking either!!!

AND TO EVERYONE THAT POSTED PICS. I LOVE THE TRUCKS. I WAS KINDA PUT OUT WHEN I BOUGHT THE LWB BC I WANTED A SWB BUT AM LEARNING THAT I LOVE IT MORE THAN THOSE SILLY SWBS EVEN THO THEY ARE COOL TO. THANKS FOR ANY HELP THAT YOU GUYS CAN GIVE ME!!!

Re: lowering plz help?!?!?

the flip kit should get you about 6" http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WST-2104/

2.5" spindles http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CLP-CP4S4/

and cut one coil off the bottem of the springs

but not really wanting to use the stock coils bc the driver side is worn out and that truck sits lower on the driver side than the passenger side, making it look like a 1200 lbd ghost is sitting on that side

I absolutely LOVE my long bed. I wouldnt trade it for a short bed ever! I used to hate long beds until I lowered mine. It looks awesome! Short beds look so stubby. Just have to make sure the longbed truck sits level after you lower it. They dont look as good with a lot of rake. Heres some pics of mine. The pics in the grass has the rear air shocks pumped all the way up so thats why the back end is so high.

Re: lowering plz help?!?!?

cutting 1 1/2 gave me just over 3" but i wouldnt recommend doing that. 2.5" drop spindles and cutting one coil is the best bet

I did mine 5/5in with just these parts for $400 including the alignment. In your case you will need 2in front drop springs so it will cost you a little more. Dont forget to check your rotor thickness (1in or 1.25in) so you get the right spindles.

im trying to eleminate the stock springs that are on it currently do you think that doing 3/5 drop would allow me to only be out of pocket for the 3 inch drop springs and a 5 inch flip kit? i dont want to have to cut anything, i keep finding out more and more that the lower you go with these things that you have to cut stuff. im more of the type to bolt on parts and drive away.

You dont want to install more than a 2in drop spring because you will reach the alignment limitations of your truck and you will still have to cut something off, even with a flip kit you have to cut the bumpstops out of the rear. What issues are you having with a little cutting? The only thing I cut out of my truck was the bumpstops front and rear, no structural integrity was comprimized.

bumpstomps wont be a problem to cut away. my uncle was telling me that if i went with a 2/4 drop i would not have to do anything really to the other parts besides like getting spindles and a shackle kit.

Re: lowering plz help?!?!?

BellTech offers a 4/6 drop, which I believe is more like a 4/5 drop, because a flip kit gets you 5" on these trucks. Anyhow, we sell the 4/5 kit. The picture shown isn't correct, but the parts list to the right is.

Not exactly, for a 4in rear drop you will need shackles and hangers. Shackles by themselves will only give you 2in drop.

Sorry, I had to go move a matress, here you go.You will need to remove the bumpstop in the front but you can install a universal bumpstop in place of the original bumpstop mount.

thanks man for some reason the top link did not work saying that these parts would not work for that style truck. was that first link for the coils or did you chose spindles? i got the other two links for the bumpstops and the kit for the rear.

Re: lowering plz help?!?!?

for a 2/4 drop i would just cut one coil adn relocate your rear hangers up 2" and remove a few leafs. you can buy longer shackles but it can make for a sloppy rear end

Thanks coryd! but i still want to get rid of the original springs that are on it now, bc the front driver side is wore out.
